Wildren[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Generally, Wildren look like dwarves covered in a layer of black or dark-grey fur with a white streak or streaks along their back, slightly pointed ears, and claws on the ends of their strong fingers. Their arms also tend to be a little longer than dwarves, proportional to their short height, to aid in digging. Wildren can grow additional hair on their scalps and faces that matches their fur, which they generally wear ungroomed. Notably, dirt and mud have a hard time finding purchase on Wildren’s skin or hair, sliding off with a slight brush. All of a Wildren’s teeth are sharp and pointed.

History[edit]

Wildren are a distinct species of celestial beings native to the Beastlands plane that has resulted from the comingling of dwarven spirits and intelligent badgers. Already a rare sight outside, or more likely inside, of the Beastlands, few residents of the Outer Planes and even fewer on the Material Plane are aware the Wildren even exist. They mostly keep to themselves aside from welcoming new dwarven petitioners to the plane.

Society[edit]

Almost all Wildren live underground on the Karasuthra layer in extensive tunnel and cave systems they share with other burrowing creatures. There they have formed into many small clans, called cetes, that control various sections of the underground. Wildren are fiercely territorial over both their fortified burrows, called setts, and their members of their clan, but will rarely attack outsiders unless provoked. Unfortunately, Wildren are infamous for their short tempers so even minor insults can quickly turn to slashes and scars, but rarely are these brief bouts lethal. While some Wildren will venture onto the surface of the plane for exploration and resources, those that venture beyond their wild paradise are a rare breed indeed. Wildren have a weakness for the scent and taste of honey, and an even greater one for mead.

Wildren names tend to be dwarvish. However, their cete names often focus on nature and animals, especially regarding underground features or animals.
