Way of the Windblade (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Way of the Windblade[edit]
Monastic Tradition
The Melee Fighter wears heavy armor and wields many weapons with ease. The Barbarian obliterates his foes in a blaze a fury. The Rogue use his stealthy attacks. The Samurai uses superior skill with a blade and intimidation to strike fear in his enemies. A Windblade, however, seeks to defeat his opponents with speed and ease, using their dual wielded scimitars and wind ability to take foes down.
- Windblade Mastery
Starting at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with scimitars.
In addition, you learn how to cast the gust cantrip. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for this spell. Finally, when you take the Attack action, you can cast gust as a bonus action on your turn.
- Blade Flurry
Starting at 3rd level, when wielding a scimitar or shortsword in each hand, you are able to make attacks with them, instead of using your unarmed strikes, using your bonus action granted by your Martial Arts feature.
In addition, when using your flurry of blows, you can make the extra attacks using a shortsword or scimitar you are wielding.
- Wind Mastery
Also at 3rd level, you become able to control the wind using your ki abilities. Your ki features gain the following benefits:
- Flurry of Blows. Until the end of your turn, your melee weapon attacks gain the reach property. In addition, you can choose to cause thunder or lighting damage, instead of bludgeoning.
- Step of the Wind. You gain flying speed equal to your movement speed until the start of your next turn.
- Patient Defense. You mimic the effects of the warding wind spell, until the start of your next turn.
- Edge
A Windblade is trained in the arts of the sharp edge, and none can match his mastery of the sword. Starting at 6th level, whenever you use your flurry of blows, you score critical hits with a 19-20 using a shortsword or scimitar until the end of the turn. This increases to 18-20 at 11th level and 17-20 at 17th level.
- Blade Fury
In the heat of battle, taking a hit can fuel an inner fury, causing a Windblade to fight back with greater intensity. Starting at 11th level, for every 5 hit points lost due to an enemy striking you in melee combat, you regain 1 ki point.
- Uncanny Dodge
Starting at 17th level, when an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to halve the attack's damage against you.
