Way of the Watchful Gate[edit]

Monk Subclass

The world is a dangerous place, whether the threat is mortal, otherwordly, or immortal. Those who follow the Way of the Watchful Gate seek to change that. As valiant protectors, they seek to protect others where they can, using whatever they can. To these ends, their reaction speeds are multiplied to incredible extents, and their sight unerring to spot any that could bring harm.

Watchful Guardian

Starting when you choose this discipline at 3rd level, you learn to watch your enemies closely and time your sidesteps with clever counterattacks. If an attack targets a creature within 5 feet of you, you may use your reaction to impose disadvantage on that attack.

Gaze Unerring

At 6th level, you gain proficiency in Perception, if you were not already proficient, and you double your proficiency bonus when using said skill. In addition, your passive perception cannot be lower than your Wisdom score.

Still Mind

Beginning at 11th level, you gain an additional reaction, which can only be used for the purpose of Watchful Guardian.

In addition, when the creature who's attack you gave disadvantage through Watchful Guardian misses, if they are within your reach, you can spend a ki point to make an unarmed attack against them.

Gates Open and Shut

Starting at 17th level, you align yourself so thoroughly with protective intention that you can manifest the philosophy of the “watchful gate” in a literal sense. You may spend 6 ki points to cast either wall of force, or 5 to cast banishing smite. When cast in this way, banishing smite can be used with unarmed strikes, and your casting modifier is Wisdom.
