Way of the Vengful Fist (5e Subclass)
Way of the Vengeful Fist[edit]
Monks trained in the dojo school of the vengeful fist are front line combatants. Though they are not often seen with weapons, they will almost certainly be jumping straight into the enemy lines. They capitalize on their ability to dodge and counterattack. They use their inner strength to reduce the impact of their enemies blows, yet channel their rage and indignation of being hit into every counter. A vengeful fist monk is meant to hit hard and often, making them the perfect candidate to jump into the fray, causing havoc among the enemy ranks, before running back to the group. These monks usually forgo weapons entirely in favor of training their own body to be the perfect offense and counter, desiring to pummel enemies with only their own hands.
- Revenge Blow
Starting 3rd level, you gain the following abilities with which to utilize your ki with a vengeance. Whenever you are hit by an attack, you may use your reaction to use a ki point and activate one of the following effects against the creature that attacked you for 1 minute:
- You have advantage in all opportunity attacks against that creature.
- You may make an unarmed strike against the creature as a reaction whenever it attacks you.
- Inner Strength
Starting 6th level, you can react to damage by reducing it so you can further live to deal your vengeance. When you are hit by an attack, you can spend 2 ki points as a eaction to reduce the damage by an amount equal to 1d10 + your Wisdom modifier. If you reduce the damage to zero and the attacker is within 5 feet of you, you may make an unarmed strike against that creature with no further action.
- Hateful Barrage
Starting 11th level, you can strike back like a fusillade against those who hurt you. If you received any damage since your last turn, you may make one extra unarmed strike when you use your Flurry of Blows. Additionally, you now add your Strength modifier to your unarmed strikes damage as well as your Dexterity modifier.
- Cultivated Hatred
Starting 17th level, when you are hit by an attack, you may use a reaction to spend 4 ki points and reduce the damage from the attack by half. You then gain temporary hit points equal to the damage prevented, which last for 1 minute. Your unarmed strikes now roll with advantage against any creature that dealt you damage within your last turn, and they deal extra force damage equal to the amount of temporary hit points you have.
