Way of the True Seeing[edit]

Monk Subclass

It is only when we place ourselves in darkness that we see the light within us.
—Sensei Yijun

Monks that follow the Way of the True Seeing believe that once you are starved of the visual sense then you can truly see what's around you. They learn to leave behind the hindrance of optic detection for a much more precise method. With this, they gain insight far greater than one can imagine. This comes in the form of detecting weakness in enemies and visualizing their next move before it comes forth.

Gifted Sight

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you have your sight taken from you if it is not already gone. The ritual varies from monastery-to-monastery. You gain Blindsight for 30 feet. This blindsight is sound-based, and is reduced to 5 ft. while you are deafened. The range of your blindsight increases to 40 ft. at 4th level, 50 ft. at 8th level, 60 ft. at 12th level, and 70 ft. at 16th level.

Blind Protection

At 6th level, you can enter a defensive stance until the end of your next turn as a bonus action for 1 ki point. This stance can be assumed as long as you are standing, unhindered, and with all of your new senses. With this stance comes the following benefits

  • Attacks against you have disadvantage.
  • You cannot be moved unwillingly.
  • If an attack is made against you and it misses, you can retaliate with an unarmed strike. You can do this a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier each time you take this stance.

Timely Vision

Beginning at 11th level, you have perfected the art of meditation. You only require 4 hours of meditation to obtain the benefits of a long rest and 15 minutes of meditation to gain the benefits of a short rest. When you are in this meditative state you are aware of your surroundings but unresponsive unless you choose to break it. After a long rest, for an additional hour of meditation you can gain the effects of the foresight spell. This lasts until the end of your next long rest and can only be used once, regaining 1/3 of a use at the end of each long rest.

Ascended Seeing

At 17th level, you gain the ability of true sight for 15 ft. As an action for 1 ki point, you can zone in on one creature of your choice. You learn the ability scores, resistances, and vulnerabilities of the chosen creature. Once you are focused on one creature, they are vulnerable to all of your unarmed strikes and you have advantage on strikes against them. With this precision, you have disadvantage on all other creatures until this creature is dead or outside of your blindsight. After you use this feature, you cannot willingly leave them from your blindsight. This feature can only be used once, regaining use at the end of a long rest.
