Way of the Patient[edit]

Monastic Tradition

Aggression isn't always the best course of action to defeat an enemy. Waiting the right moment to strike, looking for failures on the enemies form and mistakes on its attacks can lead to victory, while keeping the warrior safe of body and calm of mind. Monks who follow the tradition of patience understand this truth, and use patience as a weapon against the violent assaults from their enemies. Using a calm and careful assessment of the situation, coupled with a powerful defensive stance, these monks can react with deadly precision, reserving their energy to be used only on the right moment against any threat to their security.

Patient fists, as they are usually called, tend to prefer to avoid conflict, always rather deescalating a upcoming fight and adopting a collected demeanor towards hostile individuals. This peacefulness, however, is not a sign of unpreparedness, and even when calmly evaluating the situation, they are always prepared to defend themselves from a sudden attack.

Patient Reaction

Starting at 3rd level, you can choose to wait for your enemies actions, instead of rushing towards battle. When you take the Dodge action, you gain one additional reaction, that can be used until the start of your next turn. In addition, whenever a creature moves within 5 feet of you for the first time, or makes an attack against you, you can make an opportunity attack against it.

Calmness of Mind

At 6th level, your patience and serenity shield and restore your body from negative effects. When you use your Patient Defense feature, you can end the frightened or charmed on you. When you do so, you become immune to this conditions until the start of your next turn. Alternatively, you can choose to, instead, regain a number of hit points equal to 5 + your Wisdom modifier.

In addition, when you use the Stillness of Mind feature, you gain the benefits of the Dodge action until the start of your next turn.

Planned Reaction

When you reach the 11th level, your reactions become more precise. Once per turn, you can ready an Action of your choice, without using an action. You can't use the Action you have readied on this turn.

In addition, when you make an opportunity attack, you can use your Flurry of Blows on that reaction.

Powerful Reaction

At 17th level, when a creature within 5 feet makes an attack against you, or force you to make a saving throw, you can make an opportunity attack against it. On a hit, you cause the attack's normal effects and the creature's attack or effect automatically fails.
