Monk Subclass
Monks of the Way of the Lightning and Thunder have dedicated their lives to the mastery of harnessing the energy that flows through all things and guiding to their purpose.
- Thunder Shock Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your enemy's ki when you harness your own. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can choose to cause thunder or lighting damage, instead of bludgeoning. If you do so, you can impose one of the following effects on that target, depending on the chosen type:
- Thunder: It must make a Strength saving throw. If it fails, you can push it up to 15 feet away from you.
- Lightning: It can't take reactions until the end of your next turn.
At 11th level, you can use your Thunder Shock technique whenever you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, no longer requiring Flurry of Blows.
- Lightning Punch
Also at 3rd level, once per turn when you hit a target with an unarmed strike or monk weapon, you can spend up to 2 ki points to cause the weapon to deal extra lightning damage to the target equal to your martial arts die per ki point spent. The maximum amount of ki points you can spend on this ability increase by 1 whenever your proficiency bonus increases by 1.
- Thunder Strike
At 6th level, you gain the ability to channel your ki into searing waves of energy. You can spend 2 ki points to cast the thunderwave spell as a bonus action. You can spend additional ki points to cast thunderwave as a higher level spell. Each additional ki point you spend increases the spell's level by 1. The maximum number of ki points (2 plus any additional points) that you can spend on the spell is equal to half of your monk level.
- Spark of Life
Beginning at 11th level, you can cause electricity to run trough your body and restart your stopped heart. When you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can expend one action and 1 ki point to have 1 hit point instead. Any creature within 5 feet must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw, or take lighting damage equal to your monk level when you do so.
- Electrified Shield
At 17th level, as a bonus action, your body becomes wreathed in dancing, crackling electricity. You shed bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 15 feet. You can extinguish or restore the light as a bonus action.
If a creature hits you with a melee attack while this light shines, you can use your reaction to deal lightning or thunder damage to the creature. The lightning or thunder damage equals 5 + your Wisdom modifier.
