Way of the Knight of Cydonia[edit]

Monk Subclass.

A monk who follows the Way of the Knight of Cydonia is often concerned with the well-being of those weaker than themselves. They are trained in many martial arts, and through their dedication and the teaching of the great Master Wong, they are able to gain immense power.

Bonus Proficiencies

At 3rd level when you choose this tradition, you gain proficiency with vehicles (land) and one musical instrument of your choice. In addition, you gain proficiency in one of the following skills: Deception or Persuasion.

Master Wong’s Teachings

At 3rd level, you become the disciple of the great Master Wong and learn his teachings. When you roll initiative, you can choose to enter one of the stances below. You exit the stance if there's no other conscious hostile creature within 60 feet or if you fall unconscious.

During combat, you can automatically change your current stance by using your ki features. When you use Flurry of Blows, you enter the Tiger Stance; Patient Defense put you in Snake Stance; and Step of the Wind places you into Eagle Stance.

Snake Stance. When you assume this stance, and as a bonus action in each subsequent turn, you can choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you to mark as your prey. You have a bonus to your AC equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum +1) against attacks made against the marked creature, and your attacks made against creatures other than the marked one have disadvantage.
Tiger Stance. When you assume this stance, your unarmed strikes made as part of the Flurry of Blows cause additional slashing damage equal to your martial arts die.
Eagle Stance. When you assume this stance, and as a bonus action in each subsequent turn, you can take the Search action. When you do so, you gain advantage on Dexterity saving throws and on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
Ki Manipulations

Starting at 6th level, you are taught how to manipulate and strengthen your ki by the guardian warforged of Cydonia, Master Wong’s primary disciple. You learn the manipulations at the levels shown in between parenthesis:

Ki Disk. You can spend 2 ki points as an Action to bend your ki into the shape of a compact disk. This ki disk floats around you for 1 minute. For the duration, you can use your Deflect Projectiles feature against any type of ranged attack (not only ranged weapon attacks), and if you reduced the damage of the attack to 0, you can reflect the attack back to its attacker without spending ki points.
Ki Flaming Sphere (11th level). You can spend 5 ki points as an Action to cast fireball without spending material components. Once you cast this spell using this feature, you can't do it again until you finish a long rest.
Circle of Death (17th level). You learn Master Wong’s forbidden technique, only taught to his disciples who have reached the pinnacle of martial arts. You can spend up to 5 ki points as an Action to force all creatures of your choice within 5 feet per ki point spent of you to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save the creatures take 1d12 necrotic damage per ki point spent on a failed save, or half damage on a success and no exhaustion.
Advanced Teachings

At 11th level, you master the secrets of master Wong stances. You can use the following features below when you are in the appropriated stance (shown in parenthesis):

Two-Headed Snake (Snake). When you enter in the Snake Stance, and as a bonus action in each turn you can mark two creatures, instead of one. When you use Flurry of Blows, if both marked creatures are within 5 feet of you, you can use make the attacks of your flurry against both of them using the same bonus action.
Shaolin Tiger Strike (Tiger). Whenever you hit a creature with an attack made as part of your flurry of blows, you can force the target to make a Strength saving throw against your ki save DC, or you knock that creature prone.
Flying Eagle (Eagle). While in this stance, whenever you use Step of the Wind, you gain a flying speed equal to your movement speed. You must end your movement on the ground or else you fall. Alternatively, if you take the Search action while in this stance, you gain truesight up to a range of 30 feet until the end of your turn.
Master Wong Blessing

When you reach the 17th level, master Wong has recognized your dedication to your training and grants you his blessing. When you fall to 0 hit points and do not die instantly, an aura of ki envelops your body, stabilizing your condition. You may also use hit dice, up to a maximum equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) to regain hit points during this state as if you have spent them during a short rest. You also regain ki points equal to the amount of hit dice spent.
