Way of the Ki Fist (5e Subclass)
Way of the Ki Fist[edit]
Monk by Aaron Spong |
Monk Subclass
All monastic traditions use the vital energy of ki to enhance their fighting abilities and martial arts to a superhuman degree. The monks who follow the Way of the Ki Fist take a more direct approach to this enhancement, coating their bodies with pure condensed ki energy and unleashing devastating strikes by channeling this energy in each attack they make.
- Charged Fists
Starting at 3rd level, you can coat your fists with ki energy. While you have at least 1 ki point, you can choose to deal force damage, instead of bludgeoning damage with your melee weapon attacks.
In addition, if you have at least 1 ki point, you can use your Wisdom modifier, instead of your Strength, for your Strength checks.
In addition, once in each of your turns you can spend a number of ki points up to half your level in this class (rounded down) when you hit a creature with a unarmed strike to deal additional damage equal to 1d10 force per point spent.
- Ki Expulsion
Also at 3rd level, you can spend 1 ki point to release a blast of force energy forward, as a bonus action. All creatures on a 15-foot cone must succeed on a Strength saving throw or take 2d8 force damage and be pushed 10 feet back. When you do so, you can't use your Charged Fists feature until the end of your next turn.
- Ki Conversion
Starting at 6th level, you can cause all the energy directed towards a creature you can see into pure ki energy. When hit a creature with an unarmed strike, made as part of your flurry of blows, you can cause all damage dealt against that creature to become force damage until the end of your next turn.
You can also use your deflect projectiles feature to target ranged spell attacks that deal acid, cold, fire, force, lightning and thunder damage. If you reduce the damage to 0, you convert that energy into ki, gaining 1 temporary ki point that must be used until the end of your next turn, vanishing after that.
- Ki Flurry
At 11th level, when you use your flurry of blows, your Charged Fists feature costs 1 ki point less (to a minimum of 0). In addition, you can replace one of your attacks granted by the flurry of blows with your Ki Expulsion, without an additional cost.
- Energy Explosion
Starting at 17th level, whenever you miss a creature with an unarmed strike, you deal damage equal to your Wisdom modifier to that creature. The damage type is force.
