Way of the Gravitomancer (5e Subclass)
Way of the Gravitomancer[edit]
Monastic Tradition
In a world full of magic and mystical arts, no one seems to think about the simplest things anymore, like the laws of the universe. The monk walks an extremely difficult path, sharpening his understanding of these laws through his own body and his own experience. An apple falling from a tree, a normal factor for many, a disruption of the monk's use of Ki.
Gravity is not just mere weight that is adjusted more or less, it is something much more complex and dangerous, especially if bent in an arcane way or with the influence of Ki. In a world full of magic, the laws of the universe are fragile.
Control Vector: Body Before anything else we need to understand how to modify the Ki inside our body to subsequently modify our gravity without affecting external space. One's center of gravity becomes changeable and malleable, the body light or heavy, regulating the weight of each limb in a different way is initially expensive for the Ki we possess.
At 3rd level the monk learns this powerful but tiring technique. With a bonus action and spending 3 Ki points, the monk covers his body with lines representing control of gravity. For 1 minute or until you lose Concentration (as if concentrating on a spell) you gain the following benefits:
- You add your proficiency bonus to your AC.
- You add your proficiency bonus to Dexterity and Constitution checks and saving throws.
- You can't be knocked prone.
- The damage taken from any types that are not psionic or necrotic are reduced by an amount equal to your proficiency bonus.
- You add your proficiency bonus to your attack rolls and damage of your unarmed strikes.
You can't use this technique while wearing armor or wielding a shield, and you can't attack with weapons for the duration.
- Gravitational Push
Once you learn to control the power of internal gravity, you just need more control and understanding of the dynamics when you want to use the power outside your body. At 6th level as a reaction when you are attacked, you can spend 1 ki point to push yourself up to 30 feet back in a straight line. Doing so imposes Disadvantage on the attack.
You can also use this reaction when you must make a saving throw against a spell, feature or trait that targets an area, potentially moving away from the area of effect of the feature.
- Gravitational Impulse
At 11th level, when you take the Attack action, you can choose one creature you can see within 30 feet. That creature can make a Strength saving throw against your ki save DC to avoid the effect, or is moved 10 feet in a direction of your choice or is knocked prone (choose one effect). You can only target Large or smaller creatures with this feature, unless you spend 1 additional ki for each size Larger than large.
You can replace the attack made during a Flurry of Blows for this feature.
- Gravitation Accretion
At 17th level, whenever you've spend 1 ki point on your turn, you fuel your body with gravitational power. The next unarmed strike you make cause additional 2d8 force damage.
