Way of the Fractured Revelation[edit]

Monk Subclass

This path of monks is not taught, but acquired through self-teachings without mentorship. The Fractured Revelation holds a little known presence in the world, but those who know it are advanced in their own unique way. It was first developed by a goliath that lived in the north, captured by tieflings. To have this subclass, you need a backstory that restricted you from your monastery before you completed your training, such as Slave.

Vitriolic Vice

At 3rd level, the lack of proper training forces you to improvise an alternative. Your ki points are replaced with fear points, resembling the cold nature that the Fractured Revelation has developed within you. You do not regain these fear points every short or long rest, and instead must fight for your power, gaining one fear point for every 4 points of damage. This requirement is reduced to 3 at 6th level, and 2 at 17th level. This damage may only come from monk weapons or unarmed strikes. As a bonus, your maximum fear point amount is equal to double your ki point maximum as a regular monk. For abilities that expend ki points, use two fear points per ki point instead.

Unresolved Hunger.

At 3rd level, you gain the first insight into the way's resolve, gaining techniques unknown to monks, and shamed of by those who do know. When grappling, you may choose to deal damage equal to two unarmed strikes, instead dealing piercing damage, and are healed a quarter of the damage, expending 4 fear points. You also gain proficiency in Survival and intimidnation.

Shrouded Spirit.

At 6th level, you physically manifest your powers to cast spells, learning one illusion cantrip. Your spellcasting ability score is Charisma, and you learn more spells as you go. You use the Wizard's levelling system to learn more spells, minus 8 levels, and may only select illusion spells, regardless if they're on the wizard's spell list or not. A 20th level monk would have the known spells of a 12th level wizard. For simplicity, a 6th, 7th, and 8th level monk is treated as 1st level wizard. To cast these spells, you expend fear points equal to the spells level fourfold, not including cantrips.

Diabolic Invocation.

At 11th level, you become twisted, not in physical means, but to the mind, and everyone around you looks at you either in cowardice or in pity of what you've become. When you use any monk skill, you may roll an Intimidnation check for everyone in a 20 ft square, the DC being equal to their Wisdom. If you succeed, they either become frightened or charmed, expending 8 fear points.

Reach Beyond Physics

At 17th level, you achieve the true sense of the Way of the Fractured Revelation. You may expend 1 fear point to extend any area that you control by 5 ft. You may expend 30 fear points to focus in on your foe, striking their brain in a way similiar to lobotomy. Until they take a long rest, they have disadvantage on all checks and saving throws, have a -2 penalty to all damage and attack rolls, and gain short term madness.
