Way of the Blitz (5e Subclass)
Way of the Blitz[edit]
Monk Subclass
Some Monks choose to walk the Way of the Blitz, a difficult path of intense physical and mental training. The end result of this training is an unrivaled ability to utilize one's own Ki energy into immense attacks capable of devastating foes. These seemingly magical attacks are known as, “Blitz’s” and each one requires a great deal of study to understand and even more training to be able to execute.
- Blitz of Might
At 3rd level you gain the ability to execute attacks as a Blitz, when you do this you channel Ki energy into mighty blows which deal massive damage.
- Raging Fist: Whenever you use the Flurry of Blows attack you can make an additional unarmed strike.
- Aura Cannon: Using 2 Ki points, you can forgo an Attack to unleash an immense beam of Ki energy from your palms. This beam has a range of 60 feet and the target must succeed a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC or they are hit by the beam and take 3 rolls of your martial arts die + Wisdom modifier force damage. This can be increased by a 1 roll of your martial arts die for every additional Ki point used, up to your Wisdom modifier.
- Blitz of Fire
At 6th level you gain the ability to execute two more types of Blitz’s. In addition, you gain 4 fire blitz points, which can be used to fuel your Blitz of Fire abilities instead of ki points. You regain fire blitz points after finishing a short or long rest.
- Meteor Strike: Using the power of Ki you can essentially perform a hyper powerful suplex upon your foe. You can forgo an attack and spend 3 Ki to make a special melee attack against the enemy. On a hit, you lift the target up to a height equal to 30 feet into the air (you must be able to reach that height to use this feature) before bringing them down with great force, causing the target to take bludgeoning and fire damage (half each) equal to 3 rolls of your martial arts die + your Strength or Dexterity modifier (whichever is higher) and is knocked prone. This can be increased by 1 roll of your martial arts die for every additional Ki point used, up to your Wisdom modifier.
- Rising Phoenix: Unleashing the inner Phoenix inside of you allows you to use Ki energy to burn your enemies with a cleansing fire. For 3 Ki points you can use an Action to release an intense fire from your palms in a 15-foot cone in front of you. Every hostile must succeed a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC or they take fire damage equal to 2 rolls of your martial arts die + your Wisdom modifier. On a success they take half damage. This can be increased by 1 roll of your martial arts die for every additional Ki point used, up to your Wisdom modifier.
- Blitz of Soul
At 11th level you learn two new Blitz’s and you receive 5 soul blitz points, which you can use to fuel your Blitz of Soul features. You regain soul blitz upon finishing a short or long rest.
- Chakra: As a bonus action, you can spend 5 Ki points to release the energy of your Chakras and use it to give strength to those fighting with you. Up to your Wisdom Modifier +1 (minimum 1) allies you can see within 60 feet regain hit points equal to a roll of your martial arts die + your Wisdom modifier.
- Razor Gale: By unleashing a mighty wave of Ki energy from your fists you can create cutting winds which tear your enemies to shreds. As an Action, you can spend 5 Ki points all enemies you can see within a line 5 feet wide and 100 feet long must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC or take magical slashing damage equal to 5 rolls of your martial arts die + your Wisdom modifier. A success reduces this damage by half.
- Blitz of Power
At 17th level your Blitz abilities reach their peak, with the ability to use Ki energy to rushdown opponents and crush them in combat using the energy residing inside yourself. You can use the Blitz of Power once, without spending Blitz Points, being unable to do so again until you complete a long rest.
- Phantom Rush: Using 6 points of Ki you can move to attack an enemy so fast that it appears as though you have clones yourself and are attacking from all sides. As an Action, you can make 5 unarmed strikes, against a single target. All attacks have Advantage.
