Way of Ripples[edit]

Monk Subclass

The world is composed of energy ripples and movements which disturb these ripples. Many sightless creatures are best attuned to these, like worms and other digging beasts with their proclivity towards sensations of the earth among other things. Monks trained in this tradition are sometimes called "sightless monks" due to their honed senses that zero into these ripples, seeing it as ki. Like monsters, they become able to see without seeing. These same ripples can be harnessed to disrupt the flow within another being, causing massive damage, not unlike that of the open hand. A master of the ripples can control the energy within that of others by rippling their ki as their own. Truly trained monks claim they can see the direction of these ripples move before the body, allowing them to accurately predict movements and avoid harm.

Vibration Pummel

Starting at 3rd level, when you take this monastic tradition, you gain the power to manipulate the ripples in your unarmed strikes. By concentrating the ripples of ki in your fists, you can cause a few special things to happen that boost your deadliness in battle. When you use the flurry of blows ki feature, you gain the two following options:

  • The unarmed strikes of your flurry deal an additional damage dice due to the ripple powering your fists.
  • The unarmed strikes of your flurry have an increased range of 30 feet, utilizing the ripples to travel through the air.
Rippling Attunement

Starting at 6th level, your senses become honed to sense that of ripples, allowing you to see without seeing. You gain 60 feet of tremorsense.

Rippling Force

Starting at 11th level, the ripples you manifest with your ki become infused into your trusted body as a deadly weapon, almost like a second punch. All your unarmed strikes now deal force damage and the number of hits you make with flurry of blows doubles.

Ripple Projection

Starting at 17th level, the world of ripples is now clear to you and you can utilize it to its fullest. You gain the following options as ripple projection techniques:

  • As a reaction, when a creature uses an action or moves on their turn, you can hone in on the ripples of their movements to accurately predict where they will go and what they will do. All the creature's checks and attacks against you roll with disadvantage until the end of their turn.
  • As a bonus action, you can facetiously project your ripples to confuse enemies into losing their intuition to dodge or strike. Until the end of your turn, your attacks roll with advantage and any opportunity attacks against you roll with disadvantage.
  • As an action, you still your own ripple and allow the disruptions of the world to pour into your energy pool and replenish yourself, allowing you to regain a number of ki points equal to your Wisdom modifier.

You can only use one ripple projection technique per round. You can use these techniques a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier, regaining all uses after you finish a long rest.
