Way of History (5e Subclass)

Way of History[edit]
Monk Subclass
Monks that choose this path specialize in harnessing time. To them, time isn’t a metaphorical flowing river of energy. Instead, it’s an intangible and invisible substance that can be molded around oneself to augment their fighting abilities.
- Bonus Proficiencies
When you choose this subclass at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in History checks if you weren’t already proficient. Additionally, your proficiency bonus is doubled for any History checks you make.
- Time-Boosted Flurry
You can shape a small bubble of time around yourself to attack even more. At 3rd level, whenever you use your Flurry of Blows feature, you can spend additional ki points to make more attacks with your unarmed strike. For each ki point you spend, you make one additional attack, to a maximum of 5 attacks.
You can choose to use this feature without using any ki points. If you do, it only adds one extra attack. You can do this once between long rests.
At 11th level, the maximum attacks you can make increases by 3 and you can use this feature twice without spending ki points before needing a long rest to do it again.
- Blink
At 6th level, you’ve learned how to teleport using time. As a bonus action, you can teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within your walking speed. You must have a clear path to the space or else the feature fails.
After using this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest. However, you can use it again before finishing a rest by expending 2 ki points.
- Minor Time Stop
You’ve learned how to stop time from moving in a small area around yourself. At 11th level, when you end your turn, you may spend 4 ki points to give yourself another turn after the current one. For each extra turn you take using this feature, the ki cost to take an extra turn increases by 1, with the ki cost resetting when you finish a long rest.
- Save State
At 17th level, your ability to manipulate time is unmatched. As an action, you can create a Save State in an unoccupied space on the ground within 5 feet of you that you can see. The save state is invisible; only you or creatures with truesight can see it. The save state takes the form of a glowing green circle engraved into the floor. While the save state is active, you can use your reaction to teleport back to the space it’s in. If you are ever brought to 0 hit points or killed while the save state is active, you are immediately teleported to it. The save state disappears after you teleport to it.
Any time you teleport back to the save state, your body and objects being carried by it are reverted back to the time when the save state was created. For example, if you teleported back as a result of being killed and also happen to have 0 ki points remaining, you regain hit points and ki points equal to the amount you had when you created the save state.
After the save state disappears, you cannot create another one until you finish a long rest.
