Harold's guards are no city-softened weaklings.
They are trained in the harsh east,
hardened by sun and steel.

A dark-skinned man dressed in heavy armor adorned with red silk and gild stares you down with an unreadable expression. He moves his feet slowly but surely, circling you, estimating you, scimitar shining like silver. He barks a sharp word in a hard language, and two more join his side.

The Von Leaven family has tight relations to the east, due to Harold von Leaven's long journeys in that area. He still prefers to hire his guards from Irid and Eros, due to the skill they possess. These guards patrol the Von Leaven Estate and work as enforcers when the Leavens need to showcase their power.

Combat[edit]

Harold's guards are not lonely fighters. They work effectively in groups, surrounding enemies and taking them down through maintained attrition. The guard's high initiative means they often have the first move. If many guards are present, some wade into melee while others work as ranged support. The exact strategy the guards use depends on where they are faced, whether they fight to kill and how many guards are at the scene of the fight.
