A volatile ooze is an ooze that bustles and bubbles as it moves. When it is slain, it explodes in a large spread of acid.
A volatile ooze is an ooze that has accidentally sprung a trap of fireball (or a similar explosive effect). The ooze, if it survives, begins to bubble and swirl within its own body. This volatile presence coats the Ooze in a bubbling acidic veil that grants it immunity and some extra acid damage. However, when the Volatile Ooze dies, the true energy take form and cause the ooze's body to explode, dealing massive amounts of acid damage.
Creating a Volatile Ooze[edit]
The Volatile Ooze template is an acquired template that can be added to any ooze that has the acid special attack (hereafter, referred to as the base creature).

Speed[edit]
As base creature +20 ft
Armor Class[edit]
As base creature.
Attack[edit]
Any natural attack that a Volatile Ooze possesses deals an extra 1d6 points of acid damage.
Full Attack[edit]

Special Attacks[edit]

Special Qualities[edit]
Acid Immunity: (Ex) A Volatile Ooze is immune to acid damage.
Trap Sense: (Ex) A Volatile Ooze has a +4 dodge bonus on Reflex Saves and AC against traps.
Volatile Explosion: (Ex) When a Volatile Ooze is killed, it explodes in a radius, depending on its size (see below). This explosion deals 1d6 points of acid damage for every Hit Die the Volatile Ooze possesses to every creature in the area. A successful Reflex Save (10 + 1/2 HD + CON modifier) halves the damage.
