Physical Description[edit]

Voidfoxes are a light and nimble race of bipedal foxes characterized by their unique spiritual connection to an essence known simply as “The Void”. This link has caused all members of this species to have a stark white fur color, with slight accents and flesh colors between the blue to yellow color spectrum correlating to the nature of their void connection. Overall their body stature is roughly anthropoidal, with their arms and semi-digitigrade legs ending in paws, however the hand paws are similar in dexterousness to human hands making them useful for item manipulation. They also have tails that can be of varying lengths, which are mainly used for balance and emotion expression.

History[edit]

Cress Vuris Vs. Akira Ashikaga, Lam (2021)

From the first formations of Voidfox-- also known as the Hu-Hou-- society, regality and prowess became the leading cornerstones for the structure and trajectory of its people. The proud clans would regularly find themselves in conflict for prestige and resources, taking hold of their lands and peoples for the benefit of their own kin above all else. This created a bloody cycle of rising and falling power, that formed a kind of equilibrium despite the intense cost for those being controlled. However this would be upended by the rise of new clans, specifically the Vuris Clan, who’s Void Abilities allowed them to steal and utilize the void essence of those they defeat. The ensuing war to expand the Vuris Clan and allow their leader to ascend to deific levels would end up being the darkest point in the Hu-Hou’s history, with their martial culture being taken to its breaking point for the sake of personal vanity. The Vuris Clan, despite its great victories, failed to realize its complete victory due to internal feuds, however its influence has left a deep impression on all those that remained. While society as a whole has drifted towards more peaceful forms of governance, the clash between the old and new ways has sent a schism through society as a whole, one that will either be bound through cooperation or sealed with blood.

Society[edit]

Within the culture of the Voidfoxes are two major themes, the remembrance of what came before and the pursuit of greatness in the present. Life must be seized and used for its fullest potential, both to honor your ancestors and to realize yourself to the greatest possible tier. This has culminated into a rich cultural tradition marked by a sense of interpersonal respect and intense individual competition, with a major emphasis being put on refinement and quality. Their connection to the Void has also greatly influenced this as well, the refinement of this unique magical system being heavily incentivized for the pursuit of knowledge and understanding as well as martial ability. However as their history portrays, this has also made martial culture a major pillar in their way of life, be you a peasant or master your life shall inevitably be influenced by the blade. Rivalries are commonplace, and duals are a frequent and respected manner for the resolving of disputes. This cutthroat cultural system has unfortunately led to Voidfoxes being low in population, however this has been on the upswing in recent years due to the ending of major hostilities in their homeland. Their connection to the Void is not only relegated to a mere tool for personal power however, to them the Void is of deep spiritual concern, with every part of the world linking to the Void itself in some way. The Void takes on a kind of Animistic nature, with all things being unified in its ebb and flow regardless of when it took place. Overall, the intense pressure of their social systems combined with their introspective and reverent spirituality has created a culture rich in scholars, artists, sorcerers, and warriors that seek to make the most of their existence while maintaining the balance of nature and being.

Voidfox Weaponry[edit]

VoidSteel Weaponry

With your blood, you may turn any steel item into "voidsteel," linking it to you, making it your personal weapon and tool, this is used for many of the techniques in this racial class. You are proficient with this weapon/tool. The damage dealt with this weapon/tool is decided by what you turn into your weapon (Ex. Your weapon of choice that you transform did 1d6 piercing damage, your voidsteel weapon will do the same). If the tool that you turn into your linked weapon has magical properties, those properties are kept. This can be enhanced normally by blacksmiths and the like. You may only have 1 linked weapon. This link is permanent.

Weapon absorption

Any melee weapon that is considered "owned by you" can be absorbed into your voidsteel weapon, increasing the damage die by 1. Each increase is counted as necrotic damage. Any absorbed weapon does not transfer any properties to your voidsteel weapon, magical or otherwise. You may only absorb as many weapons up to your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier but can only use a number of die equal to half your level (rounded up)

Weapon summoning

Granted you lose your tool or weapon, you may summon it back to you with your action.

Void Mana[edit]

At 1st level, you are able to use abilities with Void Mana. Your access to this energy is represented by a number of Void Mana. Your Void Mana is shown in the Void Mana column of the Voidfox table.

after a short and long rest, you start with half of your Void Mana

Some of your Void Mana features require your target to make a saving throw to resist the feature's effects. The saving throw DC is calculated as follows:

Void save DC = 8 + your Dexterity modifier + your Wisdom modifier

Voidfox Lineage[edit]

At 1st level, you choose a Lineage that determines your physiology. You can choose either the Green Voidfox, Yellow Voidfox, or Blue Voidfox Lineage. These give you class features at levels 1, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 18th, and 20th.
