Monk Subclass

The Void Dancers are a rare and enigmatic order of monks who have attuned themselves to the ebb and flow of the celestial energies. Through years of meditation and physical training, they have learned to harness the power of gravity itself, using it to enhance their movements and attacks. To the Void Dancers, the very fabric of the universe is like a dance, and they have mastered the steps. They glide through the air with effortless grace, their bodies appearing to defy the laws of physics as they twist and turn in midair. Their strikes are infused with the power of the heavens, capable of crushing the very earth beneath their feet.

The Void Dancers believe that by mastering the movements of the celestial bodies, they can achieve a state of perfect harmony with the universe. They draw their power from the void, using it to bend and manipulate gravity to their will. Whether walking upside down along a ceiling or striding through the air, the Void Dancers move with the fluidity of a celestial dance, leaving their enemies awestruck and powerless. With each step, they bring the forces of the cosmos to bear, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake

Gravitational Strikes[edit]

At 3rd level your meditations have allowed you to understand the complex workings of gravity. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can impose one of the following effects on that target

  • The creature’s weight is halved, and it has disadvantage on strength saving throws until the start of your next turn.
  • The creature’s weight is doubled, its movement is reduced by 10 feet and it has disadvantage on dexterity saving throws until the start of your next turn.

Void Glide[edit]

At 6th level your mastery over gravity allows you to move through the air with ease. As an action, you can choose to fly up to your movement speed for 1 round

Gravity Stride[edit]

When your unarmored movement improves at 9th level you instead gain the following ability: You may choose which direction is considered the floor for you. You can walk on vertical surfaces and upside down along ceilings without falling, and your movement is not hindered.

Void Crush[edit]

At 11th level when you hit a target with an unarmed strike or monk weapon, you can force them to make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, they take an additional 2d10 force damage, and their speed is reduced to 0 until the start of your next turn. On a successful save, they take half as much damage, and every foot they move this turn costs 2 extra feet of movement. You can only use this ability once, and you regain its use after a long rest.

Crushing Field[edit]

At 17th level as an action, you can create a vortex of gravitational force that damages and disrupts enemies. The vortex is a 15-foot sphere centered on you that lasts for 1 minute and is considered rough terrain. Enemies that start or end their turn in the sphere must make a Strength saving throw. Enemies that fail the saving throw take 2d10 force damage and have their speed reduced to zero. If they pass the saving throw they take half damage and their speed is not reduced. You can only use this ability once, and you regain its use after a long rest.
