Lord of Death. Any undead within 1 mile of Verminoth must succeed on a DC 30 Wisdom check or fall under the control of Verminoth.

Summon Undead. Every minute Verminoth spends in the same spot, 10 undead of his choosing are summoned, completely under his control. He can also, once per day, summon undead with total hit points equal to 100,000, which remain until destroyed.

Innate Spellcasting. Verminoth can innately cast any necromancy spell (Save DC 30), and can cast any other spell 10 times/day.

Area of Death. Verminoth can spend one hour in the same area to corrupt it, causing all non-conscious life in a one mile radius to be eliminated. No life can grow in this area, and a constant storm brews in it. The first time a creature enters the area, and every minute after, the creature takes 103 (10d20) death damage.

Regeneration. As long as Verminoth’s phylactery is intact, Verminoth regains 30 hit points at the start of his turn, unless he took radiant damage. If destroyed, he reforms next to his phylactery after 1 day.

Shielded Mind. Verminoth is immune to any effect that would alter, steal, replace or add to his memories and thoughts, and is immune to any effect that could detect his thoughts, and can only be contacted through telepathy and sending spells if he grants permission.

ACTIONS

Staff of The Dead Kings. Ranged Weapon Attack: +20 to hit, reach 60 ft., one target. Hit: 77 (10d10 + 50) necrotic damage + 77 (10d10 + 5) physic damage.

Morph Life. Verminoth chooses one creature that is not an undead or construct to transform into its undead form. If the creature is not willing, then it must succeed on a DC 30 Constitution saving throw.

REACTIONS

Whenever a creature hits Verminoth with a melee attack, Verminoth can use his reaction to cause the creature to take necrotic damage equal to the total damage they dealt, bypassing resistances.

LEGENDARY ACTIONS

The can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

A few thousand years ago, a wizard named Darmaseth was hunting for forgotten lore. He put every scrap in his journal, which would later be known as the Book of Counted Shadows. He changed across the Book of Vile Darkness, and soon learned how to become a lich. He put that aside, although he did write it down in his journal. As explored, he fell in love with an elf maiden. By then, his most powerful magic was a unique spell that allowed him to permanently change into any form, which he would later use once. He and the elf, Arya, fell in love, but soon Darmaseth started rotting away from old age. And so he completed the ritual of becoming a lich. However, he did it just as a giant planar shift caused massive amounts of energy from the Negative Plane to seep through. Most of this energy was drawn into Darmaseth’s ritual, making him much more powerful than a lich. He used his unique spell to keep himself looking young, but the death energy seeped through, making his hair, irises, nails and lips turn pitch black, and for him to turn deathly pale, and finally, it make him a lot skinnier. When he finally confronted Arya, she turned him away. This, along with everything, made Darmaseth fall into despair. And so, he set out on conquest, crafting a tower in the Shadowfell and gathering an undead army. Finally, dropping all records of his life, changed his name to Verminoth, an ancient title that in common means “angel of death.”
