Welcome to D&D Wiki![edit]
- Welcome!
Hello Foxwarrior, and welcome to D&D Wiki. I hope you have been enjoying this site, and I hope you have been finding the information here on D&D Wiki useful. I am an admin (and, actually, the owner as well) here on D&D Wiki along with a couple other people who make up "The Face" of D&D Wiki. An entire list of admins can be found here.
- Questions
If you have any question about D&D Wiki, D&D, formatting on D&D Wiki, what day today is, or whatever, an admin will, many times, give the best answer. Please feel free to ask any admin any question (ask me a question!).
- Formatting
Formatting on D&D Wiki (or any wiki for that matter) can be very difficult, and if you need help a good place to start is Help:Editing on Wikipedia (or even their Introduction page). This will explain the basic wiki formatting and should provide quite a few useful links that explain more specific areas of wiki formatting. Again, if you have any questions about formatting on D&D Wiki please ask them as, I imagine, anybody will be more than happy to help you get them answered.
- Community
A strong and welcoming community exists on D&D Wiki, and I am sure you will find it rather nice. Most discussions take place on content talk pages, however please feel free to walk into The Tavern (our local chat room) and talk to some fellow D&D Wikians. Anyway, on D&D Wiki, possibly since discussions are never deleted, people try to be nice. This means please follow Wikipedia's guidelines on Civility and Etiquette when discussing anything. And, if an argument does arise, please use Wikipedia's Dispute Resolution to make sure everyone comes out happy. Also, on a pretty different note, to ensure people know who posted what, please sign your name after a post with four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the signature icon. This will automatically produce your name and the date. Anyway, I hope you come to love the close-knit D&D Wiki community and welcome again, you are now a D&D Wikian. --Green Dragon 08:36, 3 October 2008 (MDT)
Question about Mana-based casting[edit]
I love the idea behind this, but I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the concept.
So you're saying that with six 0 levels, three 1 levels, and three 2 levels I could cast a 6th level spell. BUT, if 0 levels are worth 1/2 that's 3 slots there + 3 1st level + 3 2nd level: that's 9.
Is this a typo or a misunderstanding? If I have known spells, how does mana level convert? Is mana level for a 2nd level spell equal to 2? or if I have 1 spell slot left for the day is it still just 1? I'm quite confused.
The mana level for a 2nd level spell is equal to 2.
Thanks, I'm quite interested in the related spell casting prestige class. My 17th level character may be able to exit midlife crisis and find a path again after completing geomancer. A prompt reply would be appreciated. Thanks!
Deletion Time Frames[edit]
I noticed you had brought up the length that some articles have been in deletion status. Basically it comes down to the admin manpower and time vs. the importance of other products. From time to time you'll see an admin try to knock out a couple hundred of them but it'll be a while before our admin power matches our deletion output. - Is it that hard to delete an article? --Foxwarrior 20:35, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes and no. The act of simply deleting is easy, but everything here is voluntary. Plus the admins are making sure the recent server change is working, working out constant site kinks, dealing with new user content that usually has to be properly named and placed and formatted, and dealing with user disputes and issues. Deletion is really one of the lower-priority things they have to do. Plus, when they get to deletion, they have to take a quick look at some articles that may be improperly tagged for deletion (a few, admit tingly, but still have to check most to make sure). The extended time is usually a blessing for users intent on bringing their content up to finished status so it can stay, though the result is, as you saw, that many articles that are completely in need of deletion sit around for a while before it is finally done. - I'm pretty sure the first article I ever made is still sitting somewhere on this site waiting to be deleted. Its like having a journal and being able to look back at all the mistakes you made when you where just a little baby. Haha. --129.123.212.185 23:58, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hooper is right. They will get done given time. A few other problems exist too, of course, like the deficit of admins (especially active with the community) at the moment. Sometime, I promise ;). --Green Dragon 03:37, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
