Light dancer discussion[edit]

Hello, how are my edits so far? --Exinan (talk) 10:24, 7 May 2019 (MDT)

You are on the right track. However you have a few issues with your context as follows.
  • The armor should just be "None" and then as a class feature you add something called unarmored defense. This is either done as 13 + a stat mod. or 10 + a stat mod + a stat mod. an example would be your AC equals 13 + Dexterity modifier.
  • The next thing I can think of is the weapon Proficiencies I would personally give proficiency with simple and finesse weapons. On that note your weapon choices don't really give a choice daggers are just weaker shortswords. Possibly have 2 daggers or a rapier or a longbow with 20 arrows.
but other than that nothing really. But in the mean time try thinking up some ideas for class features. --Catmanaz (talk) 13:16, 7 May 2019 (MDT)

Oh, nice to know! Also, I wouldn't do 13 + stat mod for someone like a dancer, they wouldn't have thicker skin I wouldn't think... 10 + stat mod would probably be enough for someone who is supposed to be stealthy, cuz 14 ac (as a template) is probably enough for someone who is trying to survive with a stealthy approach... but that may just be me... I uh, just kinda added the daggers and shortswords cuz I wanted a filler to stick in there, because we're supposed to do it together, no? --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 13:23, 7 May 2019 (MDT)

Then again I'm also still fairly clueless. --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 13:31, 7 May 2019 (MDT)

That was exactly my thoughts we should be doing this together. --Catmanaz (talk) 13:34, 7 May 2019 (MDT)
One more thing we need to do is decide if it will use spells. --Catmanaz (talk) 13:35, 7 May 2019 (MDT)

Spells would be fun and it would probably need some because it is fairly weak as it is... but probably a custom set, if we were to go with that route. Nothing too powerful I don't think... --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 13:38, 7 May 2019 (MDT)

Maybe no spells? --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 06:53, 8 May 2019 (MDT)

What we could do is add class abilities that are essentially spells. --Catmanaz (talk) 08:58, 8 May 2019 (MDT)

When do you think they should get the ability to camouflage themselves? --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 09:00, 8 May 2019 (MDT)

Maybe 3rd level, camouflage seams overpowered any sooner. --Catmanaz (talk) 09:05, 8 May 2019 (MDT)
Another thing what are we using for spellcasting or class feature modifier. I was thinking Charisma because it is a dancer. but thats just me. --Catmanaz (talk) 09:10, 8 May 2019 (MDT)

A fair point to make. Hmmmm... At level 1 they shouldn't have much access to light bending, as they are just getting around to it, so like... uhh.. what would be possible for someone who's just now realizing how to bend light? Light Distortion? ... --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 09:23, 8 May 2019 (MDT)

Spells only reach level 9 ._. --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 08:01, 9 May 2019 (MDT)

Maybe it should be half spell-casting? --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 08:26, 9 May 2019 (MDT)

I changed it to half spellcasting. But did I offend you? you haven't replied in a while. --Catmanaz (talk) 09:07, 10 May 2019 (MDT)

No, I just can't get on over the weekend and I forgot entirely that this place even existed for a while, SORRY T-T Didn't mean to skip town. --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 10:47, 13 May 2019 (MDT)

Is it okay if I go through and add some feats to the class page. We can discuses them later I just want to get some more work done on it. --Catmanaz (talk) 12:49, 13 May 2019 (MDT)
Go ahead, I won't be on for a while... --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 10:16, 16 May 2019 (MDT)

Light dancer features[edit]

If you have an idea for a feature put it here.

  • Maybe something like "light lance" form a lance of light and make a ranged attack dealing 1d8 radiant damage. At later levels You gain additional lances at 5th 10th and 15th levels. These lances can be sent towards one creature or many, make a separate attack roll for each. It should be gained at lvl 3, and upon contact dissipate.

Spell List (Up for debate)[edit]

  • Light Lance
This spell summons a lance made of pure light. Cannot be summoned in Dark areas has disadvantage on attack rolls in dim light. Dissipates after 1 minute or after it deals damage (to anything). It's a Cantrip (1d8 is cantrip level damage.) Light Dancer spell and deals 1d8 damage. At higher spell tiers, adds more lances summoned.

Tiers: (levels up similar to eldritch blast)

  • Lvl 1: 1 Lance
  • lvl 3: 2 Lances
  • Lvl 5: 3 Lances
  • Lvl 7: 4 Lances
  • Lvl 9: 5 Lances

  • Lvl 1: 1 lance
  • Lvl 5: 2 lance
  • Lvl 11: 3 lance
  • Lvl 17: 4 lance

Damage: (sacrifices damage early game for more later)

I think that is more balanced and scales well. --Catmanaz (talk) 16:02, 8 May 2019 (MDT)
Spells have 10 tiers, Cantrip, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. etc. - 9th lvl. --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 08:06, 9 May 2019 (MDT)
This is also too strong for a Cantrip... That and you can't use cantrips at a higher tier. It's more a tier 1 spell I think --Exinan, the Hopeless (talk) 08:12, 9 May 2019 (MDT)
It is not to strong for a cantrip because you are not using it at higher tiers it just levels up. see eldrichblast in the PBH this actually would be weaker starting out and only gets stonger at 14th level. we could take the scaling damage out and make it a d10 and then it would be a near replica of eldritch blast however as a 1st level spell it is overwhelmingly weak. 1st level spells do damage in a range of 3d6 - 3d10 --Catmanaz (talk) 09:14, 9 May 2019 (MDT)
  • Haze of light
This spell is a 2nd level spell that allows you to turn invisible as if using true invisibility however it can not be used in dark areas and you are only partially concealed in dim light. (We could make this a class feat instead if needed.)
  • Healing beam
This is a 1st level spell that sends out a beam of light that can heal an ally for 1d8 + Charisma modifier life.
At later levels
For each spell tier after the first summon an additional beam.
