Ambassador[edit]

You were an intermediary between two or more races. Ask yourself; what races did you negotiate with? Why were your services needed? Have you traveled to distant lands in your ventures?

Skill Proficiencies: Insight, any one Charisma check of your choice.

Tool Proficiencies: Two gaming sets of your choice, Calligrapher's supplies.

Languages: Two of your choice based on the races you've dealt with.

Equipment: Diplomat's Pack and (Scholar's Pack or Explorer's Pack). You also own a mount of appropriate size for you and a dagger.

Feature: Honored Guest[edit]

You are usually respected among the nobility (and in many cases, the common people) of races you have dealt with. You are also aware of the culture and traditions of races you have dealt with. Some members of the nobility with nefarious plans that you have accidentally foiled may be hostile towards you.

Alternate Feature: Trusted Friend[edit]

The criminal underworld knows you as a loyal and lucrative ally (whether they are misinformed or not is up to you). You can procure favors from criminal organisations, including assistance in spreading a rumor, or assassination of a low-profile target, or even being smuggled across a border. The law probably does not know about this connection. You can choose Thieves' Cant as one of your two languages if you take this alternate feature.

Suggested Characteristics[edit]

Ambassadors travel from country to country often, and meet with many exotic races. They are (almost) always suave, intelligent and resourceful, and most ambassadors have met tens of exotic races.

d8 Personality Trait
1 I have a pithy quote for every occasion that I've picked up from my travels.
2 I come from a family of criminals, a fact I would rather keep secret.
3 I was taken abroad by a close friend of my parent's when they died. That was what inspired me to become an ambassador, so I could travel the world.
4 I was forced to leave my role as an ambassador in disgrace when I accidentally started a war.
5 I'm not adverse to taking bribes.
6 I am excellent at defusing tensions.
7 I have an eye for detail.
8 I hate to stay in one place for more than a month.
d6 Ideal
1 Equality. I feel that a member of one race should be treated with the same respect as another. (Good)
2 Truth. Deception clouds the mind. (Lawful)
3 Order. I believe the world must be ordered; a noble should not lower himself to the level of a commoner (Lawful)
4 Adventure. I've travelled across so many distant lands, and I think it's the only way to live. (Chaotic)
5 Peace. I work towards peace wherever I go. (Good)
6 Experience. I want to experience as much of the world as I can. (Any)
d6 Bond
1 I have a child in a far-off land that has never met me, and I want to keep it that way.
2 I was forced to leave someone I loved when I became an ambassador. I aim to see them again.
3 I once was forced to kill a noble to prevent an assassination! That noble's heir wants me dead.
4 I was disgraced when I was caught taking a bribe from a corrupt noble. I will do anything to win my reputation back.
5 I am in a rivalry with a close friend of mine. We both seek to prove ourselves better than the other.
6 I want to be able to one day settle down and have a normal life.
d6 Flaw
1 I am secretly extremely bigoted.
2 My constant contact with high society has made me exceedingly arrogant.
3 I slip between languages halfway through a sentence, making it very difficult for me to carry on a conversation with others.
4 I'm constantly serious. My job demands it.
5 I have never made a mistake in my line of work, as failure can have disastrous concequences for whole nations, but I'm constantly terrified that I will.
6 I get offended when people of one culture don't conform to the rules of another I have experienced, even when they are completely unrelated.
