About Nytteløst[edit]

I've only been a DM for about a year and a half, although my experiences with tabletop RPGs take me back about three years. In other words, I'm a newcomer. I was introduced into the world of tabletop RPGs when a good friend of mine wished to test a game they built from scratch that used a d10 system, although certain elements made the game more similar to a more advanced 3.5e without class or cross-class skills rather than systems that use the d10 for almost everything (like the White Wolf Publishing games that use d10 systems).

I played 3.5e and Vampire: the Masquerade soon after, and grew into those systems. I was introduced into the Realm of the DM when I was asked to try hosting a V:tM game. So I did, and I had fun, as did everyone else (except for that unfortunate Giovanni who saw illusions of cats everywhere for five months... sorry :3 ). I eventually learned about Pathfinder from the same friend that got me into D&D in the first place, and since then I've DM'ed over mostly Pathfinder games, defining my own campaign setting in the process.

How Does One Pronounce My Name?[edit]

It's a weird one, granted most don't name themselves Norwegian words. For purposes of easy spelling and usage with my native English speakers, I don't put a slash though my o, although it normally includes one when written. So, putting that slashed o back into my name, we have: Nytteløst. By itself, it means "pointless." When used in the phrase "Motstand er nytteløst," it means "Resistance is futile." When pronounced, well...
Ny- = as one would say knee
-tte- = teh as in the misspelling of "the" that is found on teh Internets
-løst = pronounced similarly to lust if one were to be French and pronounce the u as a French one.

And that concludes our brief Norwegian lesson today! I don't know why I named myself that, so one could say it was... pointless.

Why Am I Here?[edit]

I lurked here for a while. For the first few times, I was hanging out with my DM, helping improve their custom game a bit and talking about weird gender differences in video game races such as reptilian races having breasts and whatnot. I began looking into this site much more when one of my PC's decided to ask me about third parties and choosing classes and races from them. I told him and the other PC's, although I didn't expect to be taken seriously in this case, to find a good one and they can do it. Then, he came across this monstrosity of a class, only known by the name Tank (3.5e Class). From my understanding, it uses its Constitution modifier instead of its Dexterity modifier when calculating Armor Class, and it isn't limited by armor apparently; this made it dangerous in a gestalt campaign when combined with an already tanky Armiger in a Pathfinder setting. This thing gave me nightmares, with it banging on my door with the handle of its bardiche, yelling at me to release the flying Tarrasque after that worthless Dragon Rider pansy or else, while simultaneously wanting more kobold meat for its troubles. Oh god, the gods!

Anyway, out of that horrifying spell, I decided to perform the task of creating my own races to use in my own setting, although I looked away from this site and used the Race Points system proposed on the Pathfinder SRD. With it, I created Abominations (based on what happens in the White Wolf Publishing series if a werewolf and vampire mess around with each other a little too much, but not quite the same), Douchedragons (I made this as a joke of a first-time PC asking, "What could possibly go wrong?"... and wrong it went), various android races designed for different purposes (I had Phantasy Star on the mind when I made these), and some others including an elf-kitsune half-breed (it was forced) and a human-adlet half-breed (it wasn't forced, but knowing the one PC's obsession with adlets and certain furry activities, it was bound to happen).

I then got around to looking at some Pathfinder third party classes provided by various companies, and stumbled upon a version of an Artificer that has access to theoretically any spell, although limited to casting with devices to be built. I found it a good idea... but their version was messy, ridden with confusion and holes not explaining enough of anything, and using features that didn't seem to make any sense for the class. So, I made it my mission to create my own version of it. Even to this day, I am still working on it, although it is a difficult process to make complete and balanced. Perhaps I'll post it here someday when I feel I have it good and ready, although it will be a different name as there is already an Artificer (3.5e Class) listed here that I don't wish to interfere with, as it has its own flavor to it.

I then noticed a log in link to the upper right of the site, and I figured that, with enough liquid courage and Great Fortitude, I could sign up and do something. And here I am, folks.

Here I am... rock you like a hurricane.

My Goals[edit]

My eventual goal, although probably a slow one, is to post my works for everyone else to use. I find most structural similarities between Pathfinder and 3.5e, so most of what I put up for use will most likely end up being 3.5e material.
