Incorporeal Movement. The lich wraith can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 2 (1d4) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object, any creature the lich wraith moves through in this way must make a DC 21 Wisdom saving throw or take 18 (4d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, the lich wraith has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the lich wraith fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Rejuvenation. If it has a phylactery, a destroyed lich wraith gains a new body in 1d10 days, regaining all its hit points and becoming active again. The new body appears within 5 feet of the phylactery.

Spellcasting. The lich wraith is an 38th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 28, +36 to hit with spell attacks). The lich wraith has the following wizard spells prepared:

Cantrips (at will): mage hand, prestidigitation, ray of frost
1st level (at will): detect magic, magic missile, shield, thunderwave
2nd level (at will): acid arrow, detect thoughts, invisibility, mirror image
3rd level (at will): animate dead, counterspell, dispel magic, fireball

Turn Resistance. The lich wraith has advantage on saving throws against any effect that turns undead.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The lich wraith makes three attacks or casts two spells and a cantrip.

Paralyzing Touch. Melee Spell Attack: +13 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 25 (6d6 + 4) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 21 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the beginning of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Life Drain. Melee Spell Attack: +13 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 26 (6d6 + 5) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 21 Constitution saving throw or its hit point maximum is reduced by 1d6. This reduction can only be undone by a wish spell. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.

Create Spectre. The lich wraith targets a humanoid within 30 feet of it that has been dead for no longer than 1 minute and died violently. The target's spirit rises as a spectre in the space of its corpse or in the nearest unoccupied space. The spectre is under the lich wraith's control. The lich wraith can have no more than twenty spectres under its control at one time.


LEGENDARY ACTIONS

The lich wraith can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The lich wraith regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Cantrip. The lich wraith casts a cantrip.
Paralyzing Touch (Costs 2 Actions). The lich wraith uses its Paralyzing Touch.
Frightening Gaze (Costs 2 Actions). The lich wraith fixes its gaze on one creature it can see within 10 feet of it. The target must succeed on a DC 21 Wisdom saving throw against this magic or become frightened for 1 minute. The frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a target's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the target is immune to the lich wraith's gaze for the next 24 hours.
Disrupt Life (Costs 3 Actions). Each living creature within 60 feet of the lich wraith must make a DC 21 Constitution saving throw against this magic, taking 35 (10d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
