Truecrest[edit]

Many ages ago, when the stones still spoke, the great mountain was bound to dark spawn of the hells and her heart became dark. Though man and elf lived by her, they could not hear small remaining the good side of her pleading for help. Man farmed; elf hunted. The pleas of the great mountain were only a quiet moaning in the wind to these races.

One day a king of men decided that since he ruled as far as he could see from his tallest tower that he should build his tower on top of the great mountain. He took 1000 builders to the top of the great mountain and built a tall tower. He could now see a huge amount of land and knew he would be a powerful ruler.

The great mountain did not like the king's intrusion however. She created a quake and shook so fiercely that the kings tower crumbled.

The king was enraged by the mountain's action. When he arrived at his castle, he took three heroes and demanded that they go to the mountain and find a way to stop it from quaking.

The first hero, a man like the king, approached the mountain. The mountain bellowed: "If you wish to build here you must offer me a gift worthy of my power".

The hero pondered for one day and then offered the mountain all of the gold of the king's treasury. The mountain laughed and said: "I have more gold than any treasury hidden in my depths". She then sent an avalanche, crushing the hero.

The second hero, an elf, approached the mountain. The mountain bellowed: "If you wish to build here you must offer me a gift worthy of my power".

The elf pondered for seven days and then offered the mountain seedling trees to grow all along its side. The mountain laughed and said: "Trees live for a mere flicker of time, but stone is eternal". She then quaked, opening a crack in the earth below the elf.

The third hero, a dwarf, approached the mountain. The mountain bellowed: "If you wish to build here you must offer me a gift worthy of my power".

The dwarf did not ponder for a moment before he answered: "I cannot give a gift worthy of the eternal power of stone. All I can offer you is the eternal loyalty of my clan. I offer you my family crest as a token of the good will of our clan. For I have heard the cries you have made, mountain, and I wish to banish your dark side".

The mountain hummed, for the dwarf had appealed to its cries. Its dark side was banished as its good side was no longer ignored.
