Toukka (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Toukka[edit]
I am the last of my kind, my lineage, my culture. All that I was and I am, it won't be forgotten.
Physical Description[edit]
Toukkas resemble large larvas with a carapaced thorax, two insectoid arms, large frontal eyes and two sets of antennaes, used to sense the environment and emotions of surrounding creatures to a limited extent
History[edit]
It is believed that Toukkas went extinct hundreds of years ago due to excessive hunting by creatures of prey, especially black and green dragons who inhabitated the same habitats as Toukkas. Seeing one in real life may often be regarded as an illusion or some sort of trickery.
Society[edit]
Toukka society has been long forgotten, scholars suggest they used to live in colonies of several individuals, usually around twenty-thirty adults tending to eggs and newborns, guided by the wisdom of the eldest member. Once mature, adult Toukkas would roam the world in search of adventure and knowledge, bands of Toukkas usually ended up creating new colonies during these voyages.
Toukka Names[edit]
Toukkas communicated via a limited form of empathic telepathy, thus they did not require names to sort each other out. To external creatures, they adopted any name they could see fit for themselves. Such names had no particular gender connotation.
Toukka Traits[edit]
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2 and another score increases by 1. Toukkas put great importance in self-actualization and newborns were encouraged to follow their personal inclinations.
Age. Toukka age slowly, reaching maturity by the age of 75 and proceed on living for over 250 years. From the the first hours since birth, they manifest all their abilities in full potential.
Alignment. Toukkas are naturally curious and empathic thanks to their telepathic abilities. This leans towards a good alignment, but it’s entirely subjective.
Size. Toukka size varies profoundly during growth. 1-10 year old Toukkas are Tiny, 11-50 year olds Small, 51-250 year olds Medium. Their weight increases accordingly, from 3 to up to 150 kg for larger individuals.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet. Thanks to their diversified limbs they are able to move on an ample number of surfaces. You have a base burrowing speed of 25 feet. You have a base swimming speed of 10 feet. You also have a climbing speed of 25 feet; although, you can't cling to smooth surfaces, thus if you climb up or down a surface, you must end the movement on an appropriate place, otherwise, you fall.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Feelers. You have a set of feelers around your face that allow you to sense movements on surfaces. In order to utilize this trait, you must fully concentrate on this task, placing your face next to the surface you intend to feel. This gives you Tremorsense for 30 ft. You can't take other actions while feeling, except for reasonably easy tasks at your DM's discretion.
Toukka Resilience. You have resistance to poison damage, and you have advantage on Saving Throws against being poisoned.
Defensive Pheromones. When wounded, Toukkas release nauseating pheromones to disorient opponents. Whenever you take damage, you may expend your reaction to force a creature within 5 feet of you to make a Constitution Saving Throw, dealing 1d6 poison damage on a failed save; the damaged target can't take reactions until the end of your next turn. Pheromone damage increases to 2d6 at level 10. You may use this feature a number of times equal to you Constitution modifier (minimum of 1)
Natural Armor. Toukkas' tough scales grant them a natural armor of 13+Dexterity modifier. Toukkas can't wear regular armors unless time and money are spent to make them able to fit their peculiar anatomy. Time and cost are at DM's discretion.
Empathic Telepathy. You know the Message cantrip. This used to be the main method of communication among Toukkas. You may also cast Sense Emotion without verbal components. It does not count against other spells you may know or have prepared. You may use this feat only once per short or long rest.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
