Tigerbear (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Tigerbear[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
While a Tigerbears lower body (toes to tail) resembles that of a bipedal humanoid feline similar to that of a Tabaxi or a Leonin its upper body and head have the shape of a humanoid bear similar to for example an ursine. Their bodies are covered in sturdy short fur of yellowish, light brown or beige colour with a pattern of dark brown to black stripes similar to that of a tiger.
History[edit]
Tigerbears have been forced into existence by a malarite cult that hybridized slaves and prisoners of feline (cat-like) and ursine (bear-like) origin to create creatures with the strength and agility of both parental bloodlines. While they managed to create beings with the instinct and senses of a predator, the humanoid, sentient part of the Tigerbears' sire races turned out to be as dominant. As a result, instead of becoming a race of fierce hunters killing for fun and in the name of Malar, Tigerbears choose to dedicate their life to the protection of nature from similar corruptions. They turned on their creators, cleansing the members of the cult from the material plane.
Society[edit]
Tigerbears live solitary or in small packs of less than five individuals (adults and offspring) next to similar communities in adjacent areas. One reason for this behaviour is the Tigerbears captive origin, which left a mark on the race's identity and taught them to avoid other races. With little to no reliance to others of their kin and the civilized world combined with their natural instinct to survive in the wild, Tigerbears usually live in dense forest areas. They make a living as adept hunters and gatherers and handy crafters. With the wilds providing more than enough for those who know where to look for it, it's also common among Tigerbears to spend their spare time training their physical and mental skills and studying the surrounding nature. Rangers, Druids, Monks and Clerics of good and neutral nature deities are therefore fairly common in Tigerbear communities.
Tigerbear Names[edit]
With little connection to civilized society and almost no cultural history, most Tigerbear names are based on things they encounter in their daily live in the forest and since both sexes of tigerbears are similar in shape and strength and hunting skills they don't distinguish between male and female names.
Names: Mudpaw, Twig, Bumblebee, Claw, Thorn, Stinger, Foli, Leave, Stream, etc.
