Thrunnblood[edit]

"We are a forgotten race, forsaken by the world and filled with its secrets. Silence is our crime, and we eternally suffer for it."

Coppery Brutes[edit]

The Thrunnbloods are a race with an appearance to match their attitude. They resemble turtlefolk, bearing bent backs, Copper shells, heavy brows, and short legs. However, their arms are long enough to scrape the ground, and their shells branch at the edges. Thrunnbloods also usually have unpleasant underbites and lumpy, neckless heads. Their skin is laced with copper wires and plates, often coating their hands entirely, and ranges from Light green with spots of Darkly colored scars to a sickly, mud green with oozing wounds ringed by pale bruises and rusting copper shells and pipes. This appearance difference comes from their habitats. The latter traits are displayed in exiles from a lack of copper, wich also grants them their regeneration powers and their strength (as well as retaining their sanity). Their eyes are orange or yellow if their healthy, but crusted over with green otherwise. They have (instead of digestive tracts) an exposed layer of copper tubes and wires that converts natural energy into sustenance for them. Thrunnites typically have yellower skin and eyes, are shorter, and have more spiky shell edges.

Ancient and Secretive[edit]

Thrunnbloods are an ancient race. Some say they witnessed the creation, others claim that they were the creators. Whatever the case, their minds are riddled with secrets from their history and laws. They are forbidden to recite any details from their history and tasked with hunting down those who try to document it. However, I have unearthed certain details from wandering exiles.

Thrunnbloods existed long before any other race, and were once closer to goblins than anything else. The Thrunnbloods were named for their ancient ancestor Thrunn. This Thrunnblood was intent on achieving immortality (they used to live only 40 or so years). He created a magical item known as the seed of immortality, into wich he inscribed all the knowledge of the Thrunnbloods, along with an overpowering compulsion th hide these secrets. The seed also made Thrunnbloods live for thousands of years. Thrunn planted this seed within his own body. As his descendents grew in number, the seed lived on within them and changed them into what they are now.

When Thrunnbloods die, the seed grows into a copper tree. However as these trees began to appear outside of Thrunnblood lands (from exiles) the trees, and by extension, seeds began to become corrupted. As more and more Thrunnbloods were exiled for their corruption, the seeds corroded and decayed, and a terrible plague stuck the Thrunnbloods, until only 100 or so remained. Out of desperation, these Thrunnbloods manipulated the trees to create more Thrunnbloods, and sent the newly created "Thrunnites" out to destroy corrupted trees.

Over the course of several hundred years, the Thrunnbloods rebuilt their numbers to a healthy 10000, but were forgotten by the outside world, as they stayed within their copper forests out of fear that the plague might strike once more. They destroyed the seeds of outcasts. Due to the fact that most regarded them as myths Thrunnbloods have been basically untouched by outside wars and disasters.

The Thrunns became aware of a dark force beginning to engulf the plane from within, but chose to speak of it to no one out of fear of traveling outside of their hvens (In spite of the fact that they likely knew how to stop it), a decision they would soon learn to regret. The evil they sensed was a being older than the world itself, and it's shadowy hand now begins to grasp at the world.

Hardy Isolationists[edit]

The Thrunnblood leaders of the copperwood are potent shamans and druids who prefer to fight with spells rather than weapons. The Thrunnbloods adopted a hierarchical system of rule based on a chosen group of druids. Powerful druids are revered and have the most power in Thrunnbloods society. Only true Thrunns are privileged with this station. These Thrunns have their minds set on either expanding their power or stopping the evils they have seen.

Next on the list of power are the Chool. These are the warriors of the Thrunnbloods. As Thrunns shun war, the Chool act mostly as hunters and defenders against wild beasts. Thrunns of this class are often Thrunnites who have earned respect and status.
