The System (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
The System[edit]
The System has no physical form. It is omnipresent among mortals, choosing them seemingly at random to gain the gifts it provides. Warlocks who have gained the System's power are referred to as 'players' by the System itself. They are able to see their abilities through numbers and can increase them with time. Along with gaining many skills that the system allows. Rewarding them for completing seemingly random quests. These 'players' follow the System for one simple reason. To level up
Expanded Spell List[edit]
The System lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
Spell Level | Spells |
---|---|
1st | guiding hand, identify |
2nd | locate object, enhance ability |
3rd | minor enhancement, sending |
4th | dimension door, enhance item |
5th | creation, legend lore |
Inventory[edit]
When you choose this subclass at 1st level, you gain access to a small demiplane. This demiplane can hold any items that can be worn or carried as long as the number of items in the demiplane does not exceed 20 items. Items in the demiplane do not rot or degrade. If you were to die all items in the demiplane would appear within 5 feet of the corpse
Stat Enhancement[edit]
When you choose this subclass at 1st level, you gain the ability to increase your stats through currency. When you take a long rest you can spend a number of gold pieces to increase one of your ability scores by one or more. The amount of gold needed to increase an ability score is equal to the score times 100. For example if you wanted to increase your Dexterity score from 15 to 16, it would cost 1,500 gold to do so. You can increase your stats beyond 20 points, up to 30, however the multiplier for gold increases to 1,000 after the score reaches 20, beginning at 20,000 gold pieces
Statistical Recall[edit]
Starting at 6th level you can call upon the power of the system to see the statistics of other creatures. Target a creature you can see, revealing their statistics to you. You learn the creatures type and CR along with one of the following additional information.
- The creatures current hit points and temporary hit points
- The creatures damages and condition resistances, vulnerabilities, and immunities
- The traits and actions of the creature. If the creature has legendary actions, those actions do not appear
You can use this trait a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier per long rest
Mana Catalog[edit]
When you take this trait at 6th level you gain the ability to access the mana of other types. During a long rest you can choose 3 spells of a level you can cast from any class's spell list and add them to yours. Once you do another long rest you can choose another 3 spells or keep the ones you have. You repeat this process every long rest
Combo Meter[edit]
The System has granted you more focus when you land successive attacks. Starting at 10th level, you gain access to a combo meter. In combat, when you damage a creature with a weapon attack or spell, you gain a bonus to either attack and damage rolls, if it was a weapon attack, or spell attack bonus, if it was with a spell. This bonus begins at +1, however it increases each round as long as you deal damage to a creature with a spell or weapon attack. However if you were dealt damage during this process the bonus would reset to zero
Paradigm Shift[edit]
Once per long rest the System grants you the ability to break its limitations on your power. At 14th level you can choose a class other then warlock. You gain all the traits (but not subclass traits) of that class up to your warlock level along with any weapon or armor proficiencies provided by the class. This effect lasts for 5 minutes
