The Realm of Niflheim (5e Environment)
From D&D Wiki
Niflheim[edit]
A large world filled with frozen rivers, ice crystals and many, many other things capable of killing anyone who finds themselves here. The world itself is sentient, and may grant their own mark to those they deem worthy, to save them from immanent death.
Hyperthermia. If someone in this realm is not wearing cold protective clothes, they will have to make a Constitution saving throw every minute they spend here. The first time they fail, they recieve 1d6 cold damage. The second time, they recieve 1d8 cold damage, and have disadvantage on all attack rolls until they complete a long rest. The third time, they recieve 2d6 Cold damage, and recieve disadvantage on all strength and dexterity check and saving throws, as well as getting their movement speed reduced by 5d6. Any time they fail after this, they recieve 3d6 Cold damage and reroll their reduced movement speed, keeping the highest total reduction. If anyone is wearing cold protective clothes, they only need to make this roll once every hour. For every 10 minutes a creature spends close to a heat source, the effect of the last constitution saving throw is undone, returning their old movement speed only when all constitution saving throws are undone. Health is not regained.
Nebula. A thick mist spreads itself over the entirety of Niflheim. Any attempts to remove the mist proves unsuccessful, and trying to go over the mist does not work either, showing that mist that covers the land stretches infinitely high. Sight is reduced to 10 feet, and creatures with true sight have 30 feet of vision. Dark vision does not work.
A Cold World. Any liquid will freeze, and, somehow, it will not melt, even when held above fire. It will always remain frozen, unless it makes its way out of Niflheim. The higher you go, the colder it gets, with 223.15°K (-50.0°C) on the surface, and 0.0°K (-273.15°C), or absolute 0, at 1000 feet high.
Adaptation. There are barely any creatures in this land, but the creatures are always of CR10 or higher. Creatures below this may get a buff. Some examples of creatures you might find here are:
ice-wings
