The Pits of Industry (3.5e Environment)
From D&D Wiki
The Pits of Industry[edit]
The Pits of Industry are a mechanical hell. The ground is covered with slag heaps and dug into by strip mines. Vast smokestacks rise out of the ground, underneath which lie hellish furnaces that burn night and day. A choking smog covers the land, and gouts of fire periodically erupt from fissures in the tortured earth. The whole plane is dominated by Akassan's Fortress of Iron, a vast citadel the size of a mountain built out of manufactories and forges, atop which lies the Iron Throne of Akassan himself.

Features of the Plane[edit]
Azaril's Prison
This vast prison, commanded by the God of torment, is not a place anybody is willing to go to. All who are taken here are tortured night and day, without a single moment of relief, all to boost the power of Azaril to a greater level. Azaril is fanatical about her goal of becoming a greater god, though many believe that the liquid pain created by the tortures inflicted here is being used to enchant the weapons of Akassan's ever-growing army.
The Slavehouse
This is Amrazal's domain, a vast slave-market where slaves of all types are available. But deeper, one reaches the forges and furnaces that lie beneath the ground of the Pits of Industry, massive caverns lit by fire with lakes of brackish water at their bottom. Hundreds of thousands of slaves labor here, with no respite from the lashes of their overseers, working till exhaustion claims them and they finally die.
The Citadel of Blades
This is where Azzaran, the Lawful Evil god of war and mercenaries, lies. It is a fortress on an immense scale, defended by thousands upon thousands of warriors, an army large enough to win a Blood War battle. Thousands march and drill here, their armor gaudily decorated. But the walls are black and covered with blades, and the troops will kill anybody who enters without permission.
Plane Encounters[edit]
Slave Group
A group of slaves being marched across the wastes. They would appreciate freedom.
Warriors
A group of mercenaries ready to sell their services to Azzaran. They are hostile to anybody in their way.
Fiendish Warslaves
A group of fiendish slaves being marched to a portal to the Realms of Conflict. Killing the slavemasters is the moral thing, but the fiends wouldn't be greatful.
Yugoloth Mercenaries
A small group of powerful Yugoloth mercenaries. Quite dangerous.
Overseer
An Overseer of Akassan. Very dangerous, and best avoided.
