The Leem (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Race Name[edit]
'The Leem, for when you need to clean your floors, but you don't have a car!' This nonsensical phrase was once spouted by a salesman who, at the time, was high on hallucinogenics. This salesman, it seemed, was also a relatively powerful necromancer, so when orders for 'The Leem' started flying in, he panicked. Rushing down the stairs of his wagon, he made his way to a local graveyard. Half an hour passed, and he returned to the wagon with a bag. A bag filled with the dismembered parts of the dead. He laid the parts out on his table, stripping them of their bones and forcing them together with string and glue. Then, he scoured his wagon for any form of cleaning product, mops, brooms, and all manner of chemicals were flung into a pile on top of the fleshy monstrosity. With a few words from the necromancer's mouth, the items were fused and imbued with life in a flash so bright it blinded him. Days passed, and soon people began receiving their 'Leems', constructs of pain and torment, with only one purpose: to clean.
Physical Description[edit]
The Leem is a medium-sized blob of flesh, with no eyes, no nose, and a large tooth-filled hole where a mouth would be. It's comparable to an oversized slug made entirely from human skin. The bottom of The Leem is covered in a cloth-like material, which can excrete a soapy slime. If at any time, The Leem needs limbs, it will sprout around 5-10 distorted hands from various parts of its body. After they are no longer of use, the hands will melt back into the main body of The Leem. These creatures are best described as nightmarish reminders of our own mortality, as well as the horrors that arise from the reversal of death.
History[edit]
'The Leem' was originally manufactured by J. Arthur Poxwan over 200 years ago, and shortly after one of The Leems tried to speak to Poxwan - informing him of the agony of its existence - Poxwan hung himself. The Leems soon broke free of their masters, attempting to find shelter in places like caves or churches. Eventually, The Leems began to form groups and found a method of reproducing through mitosis. After 40 years of rapid evolution, they developed mouths and the ability to speak, albeit in a voice that would strike fear into the bravest giants. Finally able to communicate with the world, they began attempting to integrate into society, being rejected each time. To this day, all The Leems want is to be accepted as real living beings, with souls and emotions.
Leem Names[edit]
Almost 70% of Leems are named after a variation of the word "Leem". Here are some example Leem names:

For some strange reason, the other 30% of Leems are all named Daniel.
