The Latex Quartet[edit]

Warlock Subclass

Your patron is an entity within The Source, the birthing place of many powerful and seductive individuals. This entity shares similarities with the oozes and jellies and slimes but are of a different nature entirely. Latex, a monster that comes to be when demonic energy dwells within lifeless Latex. Those who carelessly pick one up will be parasitically infested, their body and mind gradually corrupted. Latex merges with the host like a second skin and parasitically uses it to produce more and more latex offspring. It is necessary to have such a high rate of spawns as Latex has a very high infant mortality rate; without a host, RARELY a latex creature lives by itself. Those that do live without hosts become leaders. Latex is parasitical and can be removed, leaving the host to live only with the memories of such an abuse. it follows the order of a leader and in absence it moves to find random hosts. Warlocks that find themselves empowered by the latex quartet generally carry out the will of the latex quartet.

Expanded Spell List[edit]

The Latex Quartet lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Spell Level Spells
1st entangle, snare
2nd web, enthrall
3rd fast friends, create food and water
4th fabricate, grasping vine
5th dominate person, modify memory

Symbiotic Casting[edit]

When you pick this subclass at 1st level, you can choose to replace your spellcasting modifier and Charisma saving throw proficiency with Constitution, as well as any other warlock ability that relies on Charisma such as Eldritch Invocations.

Latch[edit]

Also at 1st level, when casting a spell whose main purpose is to restrain, such as web or snare, the spell's range and area of effect are both increased by 5ft respectively. In addition, the caster is no longer able to be restrained by their own spell.

Host[edit]

Once you reach 6th level, you become able to somewhat leech the nutrients off of a living, healthy host. You gain an additional property to your unarmed attacks. You are able to heal for an amount equal to your proficiency bonus whenever you land an unarmed attack on a live creature. Making an unarmed attack is unnecessary if the creature is willing or incapacitated. You may only use this ability five times, requiring a short rest to replenish all expended uses.

Reproduction[edit]

Beginning at 10th level your patron grants you the power to create parasitic latex offspring. You gain the ability to create latex offspring as a ritual. The only material components required is at least five pounds of lifeless latex in near perfect condition a pool with which to act as a catalyst, and diamonds worth 500gp. Over the course of an hour long ritual, your magic will create a latex pool of your chosen color, which will have no effect on the parasitic offspring.

Upon creating the latex pool, you will have to find one host to start with and submerge them in the pool. After doing so, they will become infested with a parasitic latex organism and be referred to as a latex creature. The hosts of these latex creature are considered incapacitated and will not perish as a result of being a host. These latex creatures will search for hosts to use for reproductive purposes if able and a leader has not been born yet. Any consequences that come with letting an unattended latex creature search for hosts should fall onto the player.

Each week you may roll a 4d8 twice per latex creature you have acquired per week. On a roll lower than 8 or higher than 28, a parasitic latex organism spawns from one of the latex creature and can be attached to a host to create another latex creature. On a roll of 31-32, a leader spawns from the pool and is able to command the latex creatures and parasitic latex creatures. They will, generally, listen to the creator of the latex pool.

Gift[edit]

Finally at 14th level your patron empowers your abilities to manipulate latex. Similar to the fabrication spell. You can create mundane items made of rubber latex for no cost or raw materials, though an arcane focus of some kind is still required, so long as the object does not exceed the area of a 5ft cube adjacent to the caster. Objects created by this feature cannot be transmuted by the fabrication spell. This feature can only be used an amount of times equal to your proficiency bonus.

This feature can be used to make mundane objects. Items that can be created include, but are not limited to: rope, fake weapons, hoses, cables, balloons, clothes, etc. Clothing outfits created by this feature are considered costumes but can be deemed to be of fine quality if the caster has proficiency with weaver's tools. Objects that would require a high degree of craftsmanship require proficiency with the artisan tools used to craft such items.

This feature can be used to restrain creatures. A creature adjacent to the caster must make a Dexterity save equal to the caster's spell save DC, becoming restrained on a failed save. They can repeat this save on their subsequent turns. This will not work against creatures of large size or larger. Subsequent castings on the same target can petrify them via encasement should they fail the save yet again. Although this petrification would not make them immune to poison and disease and would also not transform them.
