Physical Description

Tanukis are essentially tiny anthropomorphic raccoon dogs, averaging about 3 feet in height. They have brown or grey fur, usually striped with black rings. They have cute, pointed faces and long, bushy tails.

History

These furry little critters have caused chaos in villages for as long as anyone can remember. They used to be ascociated with bad omens but nowadays everyone is friendly enough to them, as long as they stay out of the house and not cause trouble.

Society

Tanukis often live in populated areas, and are mostly found in farming villages. They might gather in twos or threes to cause mischief, but at the end of the day each one will go back to their little self-made hut or burrow on the outskirts of town.

Tanuki Names

Tanukis usually only have one name, commonly consisting of two or three syllables.

Male: Eiji, Sanoto, Yoshi, Jokin

Female: Akiko, Shomei, Suri, Mukuko

Tanuki Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Constitution score increases by 1.
Age. Tanuki mature at around 13 years of age and live for about 50 years.
Alignment. Tanuki are generally quite chaotic and good, but they can be any alignment.
Size. Tanuki average 2 to 4 feet. Your size is small.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You have a climbing speed of 20 feet and a burrowing speed of 10 feet.
Elastic Body. As a free action, tanuki can exaggerate certain parts of their body to achieve certain goals such as a plus 2 for ability or skill checks, doubled reach and Jumping distance, and so on. can only be used up to 5 times per rest
Claws. Your unarmed strikes deal 1d4 + your dexterity modifier slashing damage, and not the bludgeoning damage usual for an unarmed strike.
Sneaky. You have proficiency in two of the following skills: Deception, Performance, Sleight of Hand or Stealth.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write 3 languages of your choice.
