Are you ready for feedback on this? Marasmusine (talk) 06:21, 27 February 2017 (MST)

Yes I am now.

Okay, let's see what the first few levels are like.

  • First of all, it's obvious that the lead text was copied from somewhere because you've left the reference numbers in. Looks like it could be avp.wikia - you can use this text, but it's under a CC-BY-SA license, so you need to attribute the authors and source.
  • "Natural" is not an armor proficiency
  • I don't know exactly what "The Host" does. Is the race this is refering to the race I normall pick when creating a character? It doesn't look like I can do much at 1st level.
  • I don't know why this is an adventuring class. Why would the rest of the party continue with you after you burst out of another creature, surely they would want to killyou? What possible motivation could a chestburster have for going on a quest? Marasmusine
  • Acidic blood, what do you mean "if you are damaged"? Do you mean the instant you take damage, or continuously while you have less than maximum hit points? This becomes incomprehensible after "hereafter..."
  • Speed. 30 ft is three stories high, I find it a bit unbelievable that it could jump this high.
  • Many racial traits just do not work in this form.
  • I can breathe underwater, but does "survive in nearly all terrain" have any bearing?
  • Drone says "Your stats regain the 1 they lost while you were a facehugger." but the class makes no mention of being a facehugger.
  • I'm not sure how well this character can get around if they are blind beyond 20 ft / 40 ft.
  • Drone speed goes on a bit about mobility, all you have to do is give them a climb speed.
  • "twice your strength mod for any strength checks" and "add twice you Wisdom mod to all Wisdom(Perception) checks" isn't correct. 5e uses proficiency bonus to avoid stacking bonuses. You might add twice your proficiency bonus. Please see the PHB for the wording.
  • "advantage on all Dexterity(Stealth) checks" - advantage is a circumstantial benefit, not permanent. Marasmusine (talk) 20:35, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
Okii, I'll work on solving it and come back afterwards. The motivation can be something like one of the members in the party tamed you, through magic or other means, the reason why it has such a low blind vision, is simply that I don't know what the limits for it could be.

Personally, I fail to see why a xenomorph is a class rather than a race. Quote from 5e Class Design Guide: "If your class is more about what you are than what you do, it may function better as a race." Sure, you may be a human!xenomorph, elf!xenomorph, or whatever race!xenomorph, but from what I see, a xenomorph is better as a separate race than a class, with a subrace based on the race of the host. --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 08:27, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

True enough, however the fact is that xenomorphs are known to molt into new forms as they grow older (Also if there were no queen they would become one themselves), which is why it fails to be a race, and rather suits a racial class. ShiroYami (talk) 12:40, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
I didn't decide to make it a class on grounds of absorbing traits from other races, I barely even considered adding that feature. It is all to create the perfect predator. It also aids in removing the chance of a player choosing a class that makes no sense with a xenomorph. ShiroYami (talk) 12:43, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

He does make a valid point there ^^ Also this class would be over powered in a regular campaign so i hope you are designing it for a PC to play as the villain in a futuristic campaign or somthing like that --Pirahna89 (talk) 08:08, 14 August 2017 (MDT)

I find the class doesn't make any sense for any kind of use.
At 1st level, I'm not actually the xenomorph yet, I'm controlling the "host", which is what your race choice represents. I'm proficient with "claws, tail and jaws" but not any weapons or armor that my host could use. There's not much to do at 1st level, can't really fight.
At 2nd level, I have "natural armor". It doesn't say this is AC, but we'll assume so. Is this the xenomorph gaining natural armor, or the host, or both? Again, at 2nd level, the character is fairly useless.
At 3rd level, I'm no longer the host, I'm a chestburster. All by ability scores (presumably what "stats" means) are reduced, I damage the other PCS if they are near me when I take damage, I can't see beyond 20 ft, and I deal pitiful damage. If I was useless before, I'm a liability now. But hey, you get to keep two racial traits, so if you were a tinker gnome you can still somehow make clockwork toys.
At 4th level I get the "stats" back, which makes me wonder why we bothered altering our character sheet. I don't know if I'm staying Small. It feels like I should be Medium now, but it doesn't say so. I can recover back up to maximum hit points by repeatedly sticking my inner jaws into a corpse (or "enemies near death" whatever that means). I still need friends to help me not get lost in outdoor areas.
It's not just balance that's an issue, it's terminology. If claws are a melee weapon, you need to say its a melee weapon, so that it follows the rules for weapons: for example if you do state it's a weapon, you don't then need to say "it uses your Str", as that's the rule for melee weapons.
The class has been in a poor state for some time, and I'm wondering if this should now be proposed for deletion. Marasmusine (talk) 11:21, 14 August 2017 (MDT)

In all honesty this class may be deleted, the only reason I made it was absolute boredom.
