Cost[edit]

I admit an Identify spell won't save you in combat, but it's still a very usefull spell with a 100gp material component. And these specs can cast it twice a day! Shouldn't they be worth more than a mere 2500gp for that alone?

Yea, I forgot about that so I upped the price slightly but here is why: 1. The DMG guidelines say add the material componet cost directly per charge which is 200 for a 2/Day Identify 2. Another item, the Artificer's Monocle, allows you to cast Identify unlimited if you cast Detect Magic on an item and study it for a minute and it costs 750gp. --Watsyurname529 16:36, 4 November 2007 (MST)

Actually, that's not how the Artificer's Monocle works. The item is called that because it is useless to non-artificers; its identify ability is triggered after an artificer successfully uses her "artificer's knowledge" class feature to determine an item is magical. After physically studying the item to determine that it is magical, the artificer can spend an additional minute studying the object to determine what it specifically does, as if she had cast identify.
