Talk:Weapon Expert (5e Feat)
From D&D Wiki
First of all, I really like the Idea and what you did for most weapons, however i did spot a few things that need clarification and maybe rebalancing.
Here the list of weapons i want to talk about: Dart, Flail, Glaive, Greatsword, Crossbow(heavy), Light Hammer, Longsword, Maul, Shortbow, Shortsword, Trident.
Dart: can you use this bonus action to make a melee or ranged attack? its not specified.
Flail: This needs clarification. Does it only work on Armor and Natural Armor? What about unarmored people like wizards, their mage armor, monks and their armor feature? What about those simply using 10 + DEX for Armor? what happens when the armor no longer provides a benefit due to these crits? like leather armor going from 11 + DEX to 9 + DEX?
Glaive: Do the d6s you get to add to the next attack when you miss stack, so like you miss 3 times and your next hit deals as a conclusion 3d6 more damage, or is it limited to 1d6 and they are wasted upon multiple misses?
Greatsword: How would this interact with other features that increase critical ranges? for example a champions Improved Critical or their Superiour Critical feature, which would make this feat literally useless for a greatsword using champion.
Crossbow, heavy: Do you need to make an attack roll against the second creature in the line or is it an automatic hit like magic missile/because of the critical and if its cause of the crit, does the damage get doubled? please specify.
Light Hammer: Honestly, the time reduction screams abuse to a smart player, you should make a maximum reducement, so that they dont craft an item that takes normally 4 hours to craft in literally instants due to the reduction, please change this in some way, that will absolutely get abused.
Longsword: this looks to me just like an opportunity attack that simply triggers every time someone misses you, also check out the sentinel feat please, that one looks quite similar to this but triggers on others being attacked and has a few more effects.
Maul: Stunned is a very srong condition Imo, especially early game, and the DC is pretty high too, making this feat pretty overpowered if you are in a campaign with low level characters.
Shortbow: Does this mean additionally to the DEX modifier or instead of the DEX modifier? please specify.
Shortsword: Same problem as Greatsword.
Trident: Needs clarification. Which range gets replaced and what about the other range? do long and normal range both become 100 feet? that doesnt seem right.
I might have missed things that are imbalanced as i havent played around with weapons that much but these are the obvious things that need to be adressed.
