Talk:Way of the Shadow Claws (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Few problems with the class
- Monks are extremely rigid in how they do things Lawful evil would be a much better choice for alignment. Chaotic shouldn't even exist as it is far too random to give them regimented training for things like hand to hand advancements.
- This thing has a higher damage cap then a rogue (and easily I might add) and needs toned down for damage. You expend nothing to do your massive damage, have more HP, will generally have more AC and more damage.
- If the monk does vile things the healing effect makes no sense at all. Shadowrend should instead give an option to take 5 immediate damage to purge the vile portion and no longer suffer bleed effects as a swift action.
- Spells? Really?
- Shadow strike is exceptionally confusing and shouldn't exist. If you want to reduce incoming damage give them DR.
Right now at a minimum this is aiming for Race of War level, and even then the writing is confusing and the abilities are hap hazard. If you want help or ideas list them and let people weight in but right now I don't know anyone that would let you run what you are currently attempting to build. Starting gold is also very high for a monk type. They get less money because they need less stuff. Tivanir (Speak to me) (talk) 10:22, 6 June 2013 (MDT)
