Talk:Way of the Bladeless Sword (5e Subclass)
The "powerful gust of wind" is rated for weight it can lift, but monster statblocks do not include a weight. Is the DM expected to rule on this every time it is used? Marasmusine (talk) 06:34, 7 August 2015 (MDT)
Also, replace the "on any acrobatic or athletic check you may re-roll the result and keep the better of the two rolls" with "you gain Advantage on Acrobatics and Athletics checks". It means the same thing, it's just shorter SirSprinkles (talk) 21:37, 14 December 2015 (MST)
While i know adding a level 17 ability would make this archetype Op, i had a rough idea I thought I would share.
the principle is based off of the pistol shrimp and mantis shrimp, that strike so fast that it creates a cavitation bubble in the water, where the force and speed of the strike creates a bubble of empty space devoid of air/water that quickly collapses in a burst of extreme heat, all within a fraction of a second.
Using that theory the user would use ki to strike with their katana to create at range a expanding sphere of swirling air with a radius of 10-15 ft doing XDX slashing and XDX Force damage and any enemies hit would need to have a CON save or be stunned (or knocked prone), then the shpere would implode requiring either a DEX save or get pulled 10 ft towards the center of the sphere taking XDX fire damage (half damage on successful save), prone or stunned characters automatically fail saving throw, if they collide with anything both they and the object take XDX Bludgeoning damage.
I don't know what a fair damage amount and ki cost will be, if it has to many damage types, or even a correct range (but I'm thinking 15-60 ft away for the center of the sphere), so feel free to mention on how you feel it can be improved or changed. Anyway what do you guys think, do you feel it fits with the with the archetype, any fine tuning would be much appreciated. -Snowflurry
No matter how many times i see this class i always think it's my favorite monk class.
