Talk:Way of Celerity (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
The originally was an archetype concept to port over the Swiftblade from 3.5 into 5e via the Duskblade class that I've been working on over the last 3 years. As it progressed I began to realize that the core concept was not fitting thematically with the base class I was using. An entire discipline to fuel a speed junkie? It just felt off to me. It turned in my head for a bit until I realized it was an entire discipline devoted towards pushing the limits of the mortal condition, something that many monastic philosophies follow and scarily succeed at. All in all, the basic earlier level features feel comfy enough for me, despite being pretty bland in terms of having primarily combat mechanics. I do have a sneaking suspicion that the capstone is busted as hell. but hopefully I can find out what needs to be cut and where.--Gr7mm Bobb (talk) 09:31, 26 January 2017 (MST)
Sweet Changes! But..[edit]
I appreciate the edits, the linking, the grammatical hammering, and a couple of the mechanical change ups as well. However. I would very much like to hear the thought process behind a couple of changes and I will be reverting a some of the ability titles (sorry but a "soft gentle breeze" doesn't make me think of speed). A for the scaling damage being bumped to d4's, that scares me a little, mainly because of how 5e does critical damage rolls. I can more easily accept the "unlock" becoming a flat damage bonus equal to your monk level (up from 1/2), but you really gotta sell me on the d4's. Also, I was contemplating cutting the Temporary ki points from the 11th level feature, but I think limiting these to an overall 3 max might help curb that power spike. I do have to question why the ki point cost was brought down from 4 to 3 (when 5 is normally used for a 3rd level spell). Not sure where the "double travel speed" thought was going, but I did add a mechano-fluff feature to 6th level involving travel. For the final feature, I'm also considering changing the final bullet from being difficult terrain to a flat 2 foot cost for 1 foot traveled as there are a lot of things that can get around difficult terrain. Hopefully it helps without causing too many issues. Anyway, I probably missed some stuff, but that's what talking can be good for.--Gr7mm Bobb (talk) 10:58, 3 May 2018 (MDT)
