Talk:Waste Not (3.5e Flaw)
From D&D Wiki
"This page is of questionable balance. Reason: In practice this is going to annoy the hell out of the whole party. "I'm going to stop to salvage the..."; "Yes we know already, this is the 8th time this adventure, can we just get on with it." Flaws are supposed to be a numeric penalty to a specific statistic. "
I designed this flaw to work against that "yes we know already thing."
It makes the character shaken during combat once someone has been killed, providing a numerical penalty during combat.
The player does not have to salvage outside of combat. They can just move away (60ft or more) to regain composure in combat, or choose to stay shaken when outside of combat, thus negating the actual need to salvage.
The difference between this flaw and some potential dead-guy-phobia, is that is can be eliminated if the player really needs to get back their standing. If they can get away from combat long enough to do it while other players keep enemies occupied, then they will lose the disadvantage for the time being.
