Issues arisen:[edit]

Missing an adequate class description, questions about a warden, and archetypes This class has damage reduction and can get above 20 STR or CON. The class also uses terms such as per combat.

Presumed Problematic features:[edit]

Block Bonus[edit]

Starting at 3rd level, when you are wielding a shield, you can reduce incoming nonmagical damage by up to 1. This reduction increases to 3 at 13th level.

Status Improvement[edit]

At 6th level and again at 15th and 17th level, you can choose to gain one of the following:

  • +5 ft. speed
  • proficiency in one skill
  • +1 in to either CON, or STR

Bunker Down[edit]

From 10th level onwards, once per combat you can exchange the ability to move for 50% initial damage reduction. You can maintain this effect for up to half your Constitution modifier rounded down turns (min. 1).

Changes:[edit]

Block Bonus --> Shield Block[edit]

Starting at 3rd level, you gain a pool of d8 dice equal to your constitution modifier. As a bonus action or reaction, you may roll any number of dice from this pool and add your constitution modifier (min. 1), gaining that many temporary hit points that last for 1 minute. You regain any expended dice after finishing a short or long rest. At 13th level, you can add twice your constitution modifier to the temporary hit points gained using this feature.

Status Improvement[edit]

At 6th level and again at 15th and 17th level, you can choose to gain one of the following:

  • +gain a number of hit points equal to your level
  • proficiency in one skill
  • +1 in to either CON, or STR you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Bunker Down[edit]

From 10th level onwards, you can use your action to gain resistance to all forms of damage. Whilst doing so your speed becomes 0 and you cannot take any reactions. You can use this feature up to half your Constitution modifier rounded down ( min. 1) times. You regain the ability to use this feature after finishing a short or long rest.

General logic:[edit]

flat damage reduction with no downside is strong early in a campaign. particularly it is strong against many weaker enemies. Thus I made the amount that can be blocked by the effect have a cap (uses temporary hit points now). I’m not really sure why the potential to have more than 20 in an ability score is entirely overpowered seeing as the barbarian gets to have 24 max strength and constitution at level 20. Thus I will add the cap at 20 as a caveat for the status improvement feature. Similarly, I removed the option for movement speed and replaced it with bonus hit points to better fit the overall theme of being a tank. I reworded bunker down to better fit the conventions and clarify its use.

Other changes:[edit]

Draw attack now uses a wisdom save.

There are no archetypes. This is intended to be a simplistic class so archetypes are superfluous. Similarly, I don’t really know how to approach a class description for a class whose entirely to be described as “the tank” The class is intended to be a tank and only a tank. Hello. This page has been inactive for over 2 years. As the one who wrote it, I'd like to ask the reason for adding Extra Attack at 5th level?. Draw attack is a bonus action crowd control ability with unlimited uses which should more than make up for the lack of an extra attack. At least in theory.

Do you think this class actually needs Extra Attack? Its purpose is CC (via taunting) and tanking (via AC and damage mitigation) so outside of flexibility I don't follow the exact need to have an extra attack. I would suggest if anything (aside from removal) changing it to tacking on a grapple or shove to an attack action you make here is my suggestion:

"Crowd Control" (Name Pending)

Starting at 5th level, when you use the attack action, you may also perform a grapple or shove against a creature you are adjacent to.

Additionally, you may use your bonus action to perform a grapple or shove and you are able to grapple up to two creatures at once.

When you reach 11th level, the targets of your grapples and shoves may be up to two size categories larger than you and you gain advantage on the checks made to make or maintain grapples on targets that are your size or smaller.

When you reach 20th level, you automatically succeed on checks to start grappling targets smaller than you and gain advantage on checks mades to maintain grapples against targets of any size.
