Gauntlets of Battle

This vicious looking handwear has but one purpose, to inflict melee damage. To this end they are covered in sharp 1 to 3” spikes and the edges of the overlapping articulations are razor sharp. They are somewhat bulky so it is impossible to perform fine motor skills while wearing them (ie. picking locks, spellcasting requiring somatic components). When used on their own without a melee weapon they increase fist damage and are considered a magical weapon. These gauntlets will size from halfling to storm giant magically with the following base damage by size:

Size / Base damage / Spike size /

T D4 1”

S D6 2”

M D8 2”

L D10 3.5”

H D12 5”

G D20 8”

If a melee weapon is used with them the wearer gains the hit bonus as well as damage bonus of the pair being worn.

% Roll Attack/Damage

1-50 = +1

51-75 = +2

76-90 = +3

91-00 = +4

Note: Fully 10% of these gauntlets(check when discovered) have a berserker curse on them that causes the wearer to continue fighting anything (living or undead) near them unless a save versus spells is successful. Just as a berserker they will fight to -10 and then drop dead.
