Talk:Thirsting Blade (5e Spell)
From D&D Wiki
This shares a name with a Warlock invocation. I think it should be renamed to something like "vampiric blade" or "draining blade". SirSprinkles (talk) 02:01, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
Isn't this basically a weaker version of Vampiric Touch? --Blackbando (talk) 02:38, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
- Well, vampiric touch is of more use to spellcasters that don't use weapons, since it relies on a melee spell attack and you can make the attack multiple times per casting. This is of more use to weapon using spellcasters, since it relies on a weapon attack and you can use it only once per casting. However, vampiric touch deals 3d6 necrotic damage and allows you to regain hit points equal to half the total, while this spell only deals 2d6 necrotic damage, but allows you to regain hit points equal to the total. - Only thing is, if I recall correctly, vampiric touch lasts for up to 1 minute or so, maybe more. This is just a one-cast thing. I do see a bit of the versatility in using it as a gish, but I feel like vampiric touch is still better overall.
