Level Adjustment[edit]

There is no feasible way to make this race only be a single level adjustment even by races of war standards. 3 bonus feats, huge stat increases, the ability to wear platemail and still cast spells, the monks never lose AC for touch attacks just to name a few. At a minimum for everything presented here you would need a LA of 4 or if you are making this for RoW +2 but it certainly isn't a +1. Tivanir (talk) 12:05, 4 April 2013 (MDT)

There's also these things called "classes" that are supposed to represent a character's training. Marasmusine (talk) 12:49, 4 April 2013 (MDT)

alright some things need to be said because the article creator apparently can't grasp basic DnD guidelines. The only race that has favored class any is a human (this is because without a significant boost there is no reason to play humans - ever.) Two if other races become this (as you stated a crow can become this) it would be a template with added bonuses and mandatory class levels, not a race.) three the massive bonuses this thing gives are out of whack with pretty much everything; they will need to be toned down extensively before this is even close to being usable. "Favored Class: Any" is the least of the reasons people play humans, which are widely regarded as one of the highest-powered races in Third Edition D&D.
By your logic, no race other than dwarves would have a Constitution bonus, and no race other than half-orcs would have a Strength bonus. You *do* grasp the concept of homebrew, right?70.122.65.89 19:07, 10 February 2015 (MST)
If you play standard 3.5 with all the rules including the -10% for multi classing issues then yes it is powerful, since most prestige classes require you to mix and match if you want them before level 7. The changes made this much more feasible but the standard formula I use (which works for just about every creature but it does have exceptions) is for every +2 (without a negative offset) is +1 LA. If you use races of war or graatel it is +4 for +1 LA. If you add in racial hit dice you offset that with every +2 is 2 levels or 1 level if using the higher powered campaigns. That is the rough formula before you add special powers. Most races fall into this category fairly easy and you get 1 ability per 4 racial hit dice for free. Some break that formula but on the whole it works. This completely ignores anything in any of the books and doesn't even come close to what would be expected. Changes[edit]

I've made these changes.

  • Changed Constitution modifier from +4 to +0 (i.e. up 2 from the elf's normal -2) . If this is a kind of elf, no manner of training is going to add +6 to their Constitution.
  • Removed exotic weapon proficiencies. An exotic weapon proficiency represents a huge investment in training in one particular weapon, it's inconceivable that every single member of a race would be trained in every single exotic sword.
  • Favoured class is Fighter, because obviously.
  • Removed Cautious Defender. Touch attacks are sometimes ones that go right through armor (like a wraith's drain). It doesn't make sense that being better with your shield would help here.
  • I've changed Tireless so you get half the normal penalties instead of removing them. This way it doesn't become silly with things like a barbarian's rage.
  • Free ranks equal to BAB on three skills is crazy. The +2 bonus is sufficient. I've also removed the skill trick, since it isn't explained, and the Str-for-Cha skill swap since I've removed the Cha penalty.
  • Changed the saving throw bonuses to +1, because sheesh.
  • I've made LA 2 for the three bonus feats, overloaded ability scores and defensive traits. Marasmusine (talk) 02:47, 31 May 2014 (MDT)
LA is still a bit on the low side. Armor familiarity allows the elves to wear up to medium armor if the reduction to spell failure is 35%. Further three feats by itself would be 2LA without racial hit dice. I would honestly bump it to +4 with everything this gets. Tivanir (talk) 07:26, 31 May 2014 (MDT)
I defer to your superior 3.5e knowledge :) Marasmusine (talk) 14:16, 31 May 2014 (MDT)
