Talk:Sphinx (5e Race)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Hi there! This is Ajluis101 - contributor, obligatory not the original creator of this page.

I just wanted to inform whomever it may concern that I've made the following minor revisions to this here wiki page, for clarity and balancing purposes:

  • Balanced out the ability scores, and added a minor Charisma bonus. Generally speaking, having an overall ASI greater than +3 is actively discouraged. Also figured, since a Sphinx was all about knowledge and solving riddles, they'd possess some level of Charisma, as well - not to mention this makes it much easier for players to implement the Points Buy System, when making their character sheet, using this race for their characters.
  • Codified the ability scores, using the proper coded brackets in script.
  • Made revisions to the weight's presentation to make it less confusing. Not only did I misread their average weight as "5,600", but I also misinterpreted the writer's intent with how it was originally written: was the intended weight range "5-600 pounds" intended to mean that their literal minimum weight is 5 pounds, or 500?
  • Added a random height and weight section, based on what was already written in the size description - hence the aforementioned revisions to size.

Hope these corrections do not offend, and instead offer improvements to what the original creator of this page had envisioned, when they made it. I was greatly interested in making a sphinx character, and these racial features for one seem rather agreeable, actually. I would, however, like to consult you, the original creator of this race, on two prospects:

1. Adding the tail of a serpent's head to the back-end of this sphinx, to make it feel more complete.

2. Further fleshing out the history, society/attitudes & beliefs sections. As a fellow creator of this kind of content, myself, I can completely understand the lack of detail is probably because you, the creator, were planning on returning to these pages later, once you had more information with which to base your creation, and thus I have left those sections "as-is", out of respect to the original creator of this here page.

Again, just wanna clarify, my intention is not to inflame nor to offend, but to tweak the page ever-so-slightly, so as to make it more consistent, and readable to a broader audience - also, again, for balancing-related purposes. Apologies, if precisely the opposite occurred, as once more that was not my intention. I look forward to whatever becomes of this page in the future~!
