  • Starting equipment (why would you pick padded armor? Maybe an equipment pack?).
  • The soul shortbow has a toughness of 10 - what does that mean?
  • If it's a ranged weapon, you don't need to state that you add your dexterity modifier to damage.
  • 5e doesn't have "free actions".
  • Counterspell is not an action, it's a spell, and as the soul bow is not a spell, it is irrelevant. Not sure what an "anti magic barrier" is.
  • Why all the complication about using this when charmed or under "mind control"?
  • Soul's domain has a lot of descriptive text mixed with the actual mechanic, would be good if this was separated out.
  • Golems are constructs already.
  • What is "soul's dominion" is the same as "soul's domain"?
  • What was the soul bow firing before shard arrows were available, just regular arrows? Are shard arrows otherwise like normal arrows?
  • 5e doesn't have "move actions"
  • Enhanced soulbow. Let me give you one example of better wording. "Your soulbow is now considered a magic weapon, and you gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it."

Fixed Overpowered Edits from random IP address:

  • Reduced Shard Arrow count from x3 to x2
  • Returned Extra Attack from 2/3/4 back to Emplaced.
  • Re-Added pace reduction to Soul Greatbow, this is a balance consideration on the weapon beyond the range reduction.

Fixed Overpowered Edits from random IP address: User uped the die type of each Soulbow by 1 (d6 to d8, ect) Each Soulbow was made to mimic a bow type (sans Greatbow) already in the DND SRD. Both Soul's Aide and Enhanced Soulbow increase these weapon's power. It is very powerful as is, but not overpowered.

Random user also changed the Die type of the SOulbow to D10. There is no reason to this, as this is not meant to be a ranged Barbarian. This is closer to a Fighter Archetype and this is a D10. Godofgrenades (talk) 11:55, 20 March 2017 (MST)

More feedback
  • Should be written in second person (e.g. "A Soulbow gains the ability to summon a Soul Shortbow as a Bonus Action" should be "You can summoing a soul shortbow as a bonus action". This is particularly important since "soulbow" ise use for both the name of the class, and the name of the weapon summoned the "soul shortbow" feature, leading to confusion (consider renaming one or the other).
  • There are random capital letters everywhere. Only proper nouns and some keywords have a captial letter. Marasmusine (talk) 17:16, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Additional Edits
  • Have changed all references to Soulbow (the class) to Soulbowman to differentiate the weapon from the class. However, cannot seem to find a way to change the name of the class page to "Soulbowman", help with that would be appreciated
  • Have changed the syntax of the entire page to second/third person to refer to characters in the class as Soulbowmen instead of 'you'
  • have fixed most capital letter issues, is a quirk I have while typing I am working on removing. Certain references to abilities and stats have been left as capitals.

Additional Edits
  • Have AGAIN fixed edits put in place by a random user that changed the Soul Shortbow/Greatbow/Longbow die types by 1, D6->d8, ect that removes the Soul Shortbow from matching a regular Shortbow in terms of damage.
  • Added a Soulbowman Soulbow wound table to quick build to mimic the Psion Quirck Table.
  • I would also like to thank you Marasmusine for all of your assistance at this point, it's been of great help.

Hello, let's look at Domain Barrier again.

  • Is "they may make reaction" suppose to read "you may make a reaction"?
  • "achieve a short rest" should read "finish a short rest"
  • Something needs to happen with "or for 10 seconds outside of combat." - things aren't measured in seconds in D&D (you've got 1 turn, and then 1 minute), and "outside of combat" isn't a great definition: if a creature is taking psychic damage from you, is that combat or not combat? Ongoing Edits

  • YET AGAIN balanced Bow Damage Edits put in by anonymous user. If this user could explain WHY they are increasing the damage that would help immensely.
  • Changing all instances of achieve (blank) rest to complete (blank) rest.
  • Domain Barrier has been changed to, "cannot move for the rest of the turn and their pace is halved for 1 minute." Any reference to combat was removed.

I would say move the ASI from 12 to 14th lvl so that there are no dead lvls, Also it mentions master shards but doesn't say how you get them, I assume they are being added in soon, right? --207.163.36.120 21:11, 31 May 2017 (UTC)


Simplification/Rebalance MAJOR edit

The Soulbowman class has been balanced and made more flexible as a whole. These changes also involve more flavor and a more custom play style to what was too many choices in shard arrows before.

However, there are still balance and edits needing to be made to the Soulbowman class archetypes, now called rules.

Balance tweak made to the Soulbow referencing the 'Moon Bow' Eldritch Invocation in the Unearthed Arcana series. The Soulbow now has an unlimited supply of arrows, however these can only be used within the Soulbowman's Domain.

Shard arrows are now treated as +1 arrows that can be fired even outside of the Soulbowman's domain. These arrows are still used as currency for some of the Soulbowman's abilities.

The Soulbow can no longer fire standard arrows.

Large changes, work in progress, have also been made to the Lordly and Tyrannical archetypes giving each one a bit more of a mechanical uniqueness rather than the Yin/Yang feel that they had before.

This class has both Dexterity and Wisdom saving throw proficiencies. Classes have 1 strong saving throw proficiency (Dex, Con, Wis), and 1 weak saving throw proficiency (Str, Int, Cha). One of them has to go. --Blackbando (talk) 10:40, 12 December 2017 (MST)

New Edits?[edit]

I was wondering if this class was going to get a more recent edit, I found it and I decided to use it for a new campaign, but it seems like some abilities are just thrown in and the wordings are slightly wrong in some places. And the subclasses are referencing a "Domain" which I can only assume is the Eternal Domain feature, but it seems to be replaced by Enhanced Soulsight. Just some reworking and some rewording would fix this class page. -- (talk) 2:25 24 November 2020 (CST)
