Normal?[edit]
Sneak attacks can already be added to spell damage with attack rolls. --Aarnott 21:30, 22 December 2007 (MST)
- Can they? Oops. MorkaisChosen 07:43, 30 December 2007 (MST)
- They deal damage of the energy type of the spell normally. So a sneak attack polar ray at 15th caster level and 5th rogue level, for example, would deal 15d6 + 3d6 cold damage. Spells like enervation which give negative levels deal negative energy damage. Spells that deal ability score damage usually deal untyped damage, but I would argue ray of enfeeblement would be negative energy. Also each sneak attack die may only apply to one target per spell (so if you use scorching ray and have a 3d6 sneak attack, you can't deal 3d6 extra damage to 2 targets). Any ideas on how to help this feat? You could always extend the range on sneak attack spells by 30 ft. Or make it a metamagic feat that allows the spell to deal an extra xd6 sneak attack damage for a +1 spell level. --Aarnott 08:19, 30 December 2007 (MST)
- I'm not sure if there's really any point keeping it- it could just get deleted, since the basic idea already exists.Trying to do anything else with it might be a bit too complicated. MorkaisChosen 09:40, 30 December 2007 (MST)
- It is up to you. Another idea could be making it require silent spell and still spell and have the following benefit: When you cast a spell against a target and you qualify for a sneak attack against that target, the spell is automatically made a silent spell and a still spell without adjusting the level of the spell. The metamagic feats are applied directly as a result of this feat and do not increase the casting time for spontaneous casters.
- The idea does require some ironing out, but I think it would be a neat mechanic. I think it would be cool to have a feat that boosts sneak attack spellcasters.
- Another idea. You have learned to make precise attacks with even the most inaccurate of spells. Whenever you cast a spell with an area of effect, you may deal sneak attack damage to a single target in that area so long as the target is not immune to sneak attacks and the target is within 30ft.
