I would like this to stay up, yes it contains the same info as a shield but was made for use with the homebrew class Shielder. --AriaVehemente (talk) 22:19, 8 March 2020 (MDT)
- If a class or someone else is using this page, then they might as well be using the 1st party shield so I don't quite understand your point. Overall, this sheild needs a unique definable niche, while currently the item does not have one.--Blobby383b (talk) 22:40, 8 March 2020 (MDT)
- Why not just make the small shield give +1 to AC? Seems like an easy fix. --PJammaz (talk) 23:53, 8 March 2020 (MDT)
- You could do that and reduce the weight and price a bit to compensate, but then the item is a worse version of the bucklers or other shields that give +1 AC. Because of that, regardless of whether this remains +2 AC or +1 AC it needs something special to differentiate it from the crowd of other shields.--Blobby383b (talk) 23:59, 8 March 2020 (MDT)
- The Class uses multiple shields, it would look completely odd to have it listed as shield, medium shield. though technically all info for the classes shields are on the class. https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Shielder_(5e_Class)#Indomitable_Defense I would like it to be considered to let stay. --AriaVehemente (talk) 03:44, 9 March 2020 (MDT)
- Every article on the wiki is supposed to be able to stand on its own, so that a DM could use it in their campaign without anything else, with a few small exceptions. I think the issue isn't with this shield, but with the class. I don't think it is a good idea to base an important part of your class on the type of equipment they are able to get. If it is based around using a shield, they should be able to gain benefits no matter what kind of shield they are using. Adding better shields for them to get down the line is not a bad idea, but the class cannot rely on it. --PJammaz (talk) 07:32, 9 March 2020 (MDT)
- Thats legit how it works, your abilities do require you to have a shield, but it can be any shield. you could have a buckler and still jab someone in the throat, the difference is damage, and defensive rating, the bigger the shield the more defensive it can be and the heavier it weighs. --AriaVehemente (talk) 10:02, 9 March 2020 (MDT)
- You need to indicate those things on the item page in order to justify it being here. To anyone who isn't playing a shielder, the small shield just looks like a worse version of the SRD shield. --PJammaz (talk) 23:04, 10 March 2020 (MDT)
- This seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding, a piece of equipment should be judged entirely independent of what classes/other pages use it, as what pages use the equipment should not matter when balancing the piece of equipment since you should never assume that a pc will always belong to X class, race, ect. and balance/design the item around that idea accordingly. As I stated on my talk page, you can go check out the Equipment section of The Class Design Guide's Class Do's and Dont's section for additional info.--Blobby383b (talk) 01:27, 21 March 2020 (MDT)
