Calculating CR[edit]

  • Hit points: 16 hp (CR 1/8).
  • AC is 15 + 1 (Shieldwall with one ally) = 16. This is a difference of 4 from the expected AC. We adjust the DCR up by (3÷2) = 1.5 so it is going to be (CR 1)
  • Defensive Challenge Rating: 2 1/8 we can say (CR 1)
  • Best average damage for one round is 5 (with a spear or a shortsword). So we factor that in by taking the average over three rounds. (5 + 5 + 5) ÷ 3 = (5). This gives us an OCR of 1/4 and an expected attack bonus of +3.
  • The actual attack bonus is +4, (1÷2) = 1/2 (CR 1/2)
  • Offensive Challenge Rating: (CR 1/2)
  • Final CR is (1 + 1/2)÷2 = (0.75) So we can say it is (CR 1/2).
I would adjust the CR in steps on the CR table rather than just adding 3 to 1/4: i.e. the defensive CR is 2.
Your effective attack bonus is +4 +1 (pack tactics) = +5. The expected is +2, so the DCR goes up from 1/4 to 1/2.
The final CR is 1 - again look at the average of the steps on the table rather than taking the numerical mean average, it seems to give a better result. Marasmusine (talk) 01:59, 15 July 2015 (MDT)
